If I were you i would get the realtime. $550 is a lot up front but you will be able to change and adjust the tune as you go. With the basic you have to burn chips with every change, the burner is $80.
Sell the cams and through in high port cams. Leave everything else the way it is and drive it. Spend the money from the cams to fix/upgrade your VE.

Nismotronic is the only option out there right now that really lets you tune the care in the upper RPM ranges. The feature set is worth well above what they are selling them for.

If you drill out the rivets there will not be much holding it in. I would scrape off as much of the stuff as you can, then after the powder coating re-apply some gray RTV and be on your way.
