Springs and Retainers??
I have a set of JWT springs with the titanium retainers from back in the day. I had a set of C2 cams that I sold years ago and these are still on the head somewhere in the garage hiding. Is there any advantage to using these on S4HL cams in a ported lowport head?

I can't see it hurting, somehere between the S4 and S5(im sure it was worked out with the HLs) was a bad piont and rockers were thrown around, so the S&Rs wont hurt. Joe will this be a turbo car or na? I'd like to see a set of these in a NA motor.

What's a S4HL cam?

Does the HL stands for High Lift?

were saying you shouldn't need stiffer springs/retainers with S4HL cams.

Jim Wolf cams
S3 cams-.442" LIFT / 260 DEG.DUR.
S3HL cams -.457" LIFT / 260 DEG.DUR.
S4 cams- .464" LIFT / 266 DEG.DUR.
S4HL cams -.484" LIFT / 266 DEG.DUR.
S5 cams- .503" LIFT / 281 DEG. DUR

C1 cams- .476" LIFT / 264 DEG. DUR.
C2 cams- .500" LIFT / 275DEG.DUR.
C3 cams- .526" LIFT / 285 DEG.DUR.

so by that rationale, C1 & C2 cams are fine without springs/retainers?? hmm..
also, what about the pistons? would you need notches for the valves?

It will be NA and I'd like to be able to safely rev to 8k.

Because, let's all face it - 8000 is FUN
