RR bottom end with highport head
Hi, my friend got rod knock on his highport engine. He got spare RR bottom end from me. Whats needed to do to run RR bottom end with highport head? Thanks

Nothing really. There isn't much difference externally, so all the highport stuff will bolt right up. I'm not sure if the RR oil filter housing will work with a highport intake manifold though. You might need to put the highport housing on the RR block.

You would also need to use the highport water jacket.

yeah they fit, but the RR bottom has lighter with 3.5 punds crank so it'll rev nicely

i never knew that...i bet with the RR crank and a LW flywheel **** would really rev...

indeed and full pulley set, light weight N1 pistons, and forged light weight rods ))

Hello, I'm the friend with rodknock, thank you for input, but I can't figure out what is water jacket? To my understanding, these are some areas in the engine block and possibly head near pistons which are filled with coolant and it cools the pistons down, but I don't see how this could be used from the my old highport engine, when it is a part of the block? Sorry for this maybe a dumb question, but English is not my primary language, and I still have problems with some technical terms, like this one.

And I should also say that I'm not making the head swap myself, it is done by my friend and I mostly help him in a theoretical way.

But for how long? 1 moth? A year? There is a reason why Pulleys are not advised for VE's and RR's. The crank is already lightened, adding light weight crank pulley might throw off the balancing. Add a flywheel on top of that, and it just might be worse.

If you look at people that use ATI dampers, they will pretty much tell you even using a UR crank pulley on a 8cw crank is not good.

I'm not saying it wont last, it might just be fine and rev like a bike , but it might go completely the other way, and when you need a daily that might be a problem.

This is the part I was talking about. It's also a really good idea to replace the hoses that connect it to the block.
