Boosted VVL Piston options (CR Related)
Hey

I PM'ed someone about using some DET designed pistons in a VET setup and no response so here goes.

I notice the JE pistons have valve reliefs included in their 8.5:1 CR DET pistons... Would anyone know if these are compatible with VVL High lift cams?

Also,

Could we use this thread to highlight the known VET possible pistons other than the CP's? Im shopping around...

Buy them here: Piston, 2.0 VVL, VET 9:1 or so (fits SR20DE), Piston from the SR20VET motor.

These get your comp ratio down to 9:1, good for turbo, $60 each - $240 total (cheaper than JE). Or, swap in a DE/DET block with new piston rings and rod bearings. Done.

Power goals are 500whp or more... I dont think stockers is a good long term solution

DET setup cannot work with VVL head... Valves would slap pistons

On the Mazworx link below the CR of the pistons listed are for turbo applications, don't know if that's the actual piston in the pic, as there are no valve reliefs.

Jpsr20det used meth and stock block (stock 10.3:1 pistons)to make more than 550whp. once you control detonation with good fuel then the stock vet pistons with race gas/meth injection is the only cheap alternative to CP's to get to 500whp

I have cp pistons and they are swain coated. I also have water/meth injection on top of that. I wanted to run 20v cams so I had to move to the cp vet pistons. iirc JE pistons also have valve reliefs.

FALSE info.

Standard DET pistons and off the shelf aftermarket DET pistons can be used. You can run 2.0 VE cams and SR16 (non N1) cams and be just fine. Anything bigger may smack.

My motor has Wiseco off the shelf DET pistons.

True statement.

Ran DET pistons @8k with SR16 cams for years with no problems.
