question: highport = 8cw crank?
Just to make sure guys. Stroking my 16ve to 2 litres. Want to make sure I've got the right idea.

Buying a highport from a UK sunny gti, so I'm guessing it has the 8cw crank and obviously rods with it. Can anyone confirm?

It has 110k miles on it, I'm going to try and knife edge it if the price is right, obviously balance with 16pistons, new clutch and 16flywheel.

I've been told that this will be static comp of 13:1 might be a bit of a problem seen as I run Ron95. But then some say it's all in the tune, I'm not sure as the timing will be way off. 99ron is not possible as I use it a lot and would be poor within a month lol

woah, 95ron is way way too low steve for 13:1!

i tried to map mine on 97ron with 12.5:1 and it was det city, proper awful.

13:1 on 95ron would mean the tune would need to be so retarded it'd negate having the high comp and probably even the extra capacity! lol, honestly dude from experience thatd be pants, like you say timing will be way off.

you'd need a mm takin off the 16ve's probably.

as for the crank i'm not sure if the sunny gti was 8cw, but the 4 is lighter and it was good enough for nissan to put in the ve engines and rev high so it can't be that bad.

As far as I know all the highports had 8cw cranks.

Yeah its all in the tune. You can also dial out some cr with cam timing aswell. You can move the intake to drp your dynamic cr

Shave 1mm off of the pistons to get 12,5:1 and run 98RON

thanks for the advice guys

going to try and keep this almost 100% nissan parts ...

Work that needs doing:
Stage one head flow with bench
16ve pistons shaved 1mm to lower comp, plus groove in skirt for oil squirters
20de rods, 16ve flywheel, crank pulley (all lightened and balanced)
8cw crank, lightened, balanced, knife edged

it is all in the tune, but with 95ron being your like 90octane it's gonna be pushin it surely?? lol

and widening the lobe seperation angle to drop the dynamic comp will shift power too won't it? flatten the powerband and lower peak hp? or the other way round i can't remember.

i'd still say steve if you don't wanna run v-power or tesco-99 all the time i'd be gettin some 20ve or n1 pistons. Like i say even on bp ultimate 97 my timing map sucked.

what management will you want? who'll tune it?

I run my SR16 pistons on 91mon here in the states, Corey is right u have to tune around it or run better gas. Steve55 I wouldn't worry about the port job, just get a good valve job and get some ARP hardware for the rods. I took my spare SR16 and made it a 2.0.

Rb, those sr16 pistons are uncut? What cam gear settings are you running? And what headgasket?
