Well ive made some progress i put new plugs and oem wires and then i check the timing and it was way off. I did some research if you get a new sr20 (which i got)crank pulley hey only bring 3 timing marks 0°,13°,& 15° degrees not like the regular 6 marks. Anyways i locked the ignition timing correctly and it fixed alot of the errors. I only getting error crancking the car and under a long pull but its much better then before

Im guess since the damn tuners tuned it with the wrong timing it still need to be worked out

Im re gap the spark plus and see if that helps with the timing error on a long pull. Question diagnosis on timing errors only on starting the car were should i look ?

How are you measuring the timing error? What indicates that you are having timing errors?

The aem has a little section that tells you there is a error with timing.its all in the software

This seems to be an infamous issue with our cars running aem's. I spent a long time trying different shit with mine.

I ended up swapping distributors and the 5th one seemed to do best. Installed new cap, rotor, and wires which helped big time. I had one distributor that threw like 200+ timing errors within a few miles of driving.

Another possibility is the shielded wire from the ecu to the distributor. I took the shielded wire from a b15 harness and wired it into my b13 which also helped reduce timing errors. I had two thick gauge grounds and made sure ecu grounds were clean and in tact.

Hope this helps. On my phone now but I'll check back in this thread when I get on my laptop tomorrow.

@nismo94tuner, are you taking about the wire that goes from the ignitor to the coil, then ecu (also the tach signal)? Or the signal from the ECU to ignitor?

Well i regapped the spark plugs and its alot better on the long pulls i only get like 1 error on a long 3 rd gear pull but i still get like errors when cranking the car. During idle and normal driving not one single error. The errors on start up are really bothering me

@ebinkerd I was referring to the 'crankshaft reference signal' along with 'crankshaft position signal' when I said the shielded wiring. It is pins 22 & 30 which combine into one and pins 31 & 40 which also meet into one wire. Those are then shielded and the shielding is grounded out through the factory ecu grounds.

For some reason the aem's are super sensitive. I ran into this issue this past summer and was ready to pull out my hair. Thought of parting out but stuck through it and finally the 5th distributor worked. I tried so many different combo's. I was thinking of sending the head to mazworx so they could tap the side and go with the hall effect sensor on the side of the head.

@200sxmia what does the injector duty cycle? Any spikes to 90-100> %?
