MAF hypothesis
Ok, well my SE-R is down again with no clutch. First the eBay special 6 puck put in by the PO failed, and suddenly I lost clutch disengagement on a low miles Nissan unit...

It turns out the PO was running the car on a DE MAF sensor. Which explains why I hit 5v at 5k rpms under load, and therefore go to 100% duty cycle (and run monster rich).

So I have 2 questions, 1) where can I get the right MAF?
2)According to this: MAF Size, Part #s And WHP Output - SR20 Forum
What if I just bored out the stock DE MAF and run the DE sensor, then it would max out the reading at 290hp which is the original max for the non-bored Avenir MAF.

Any comments on that? I have a feeling that boring the MAF is going to be cheaper then trying to locate the right one...

Also, according to a post near the end, I should be able to use the RWD SR MAF or a single cam KA one?

You'd have to do some kind of engine management adjustment (couldn't tell if you planned on that from your post)

My thoughts on MAFs and injectors are this, decide your horsepower goal, multiply it by 1.5 and select your injectors and MAF. I wish I would have done this years ago, specially being a JWT guy, and sending the ECU out each time I make a change.

As for boring out the MAF, I run the JWT 4Bar bored MAF and it's good. However, after some time, you'll be ready for more (like me).

Good luck,
Doug

That's the whole point is trying not to spend much money. This car is (was) my DD, but it's much too fast and I'm starting to break things that needed fixing from the POs neglect.

The thing that I'm wondering about is IF I would really need to adjust the tuning as supposedly stock bore avenier MAFs are good for 290hp, while bored DE MAFs are good for 290hp as well. Basically I'm trying to lean it out slightly.

Also, I don't even know if I want to keep the car, I've been itching to get my 280z on the road again, and now that I have a spare SR20 block it might just become a possibility. My friend is also hooking me up with a 72 620 Datsun long bed that I could put back together and use as a DD...

I'm sure you can find a cheap avenir/bluebird MAF floating around here. Probably cheaper than taking your maf somewhere to have it bored out.
