I meant I am trying to remove the axle from the differential side(drivers side), I looked at the Courtesy Nissan parts catolog and it looks like there is either a c clip or nut on the end of the axle, anybody removed this axle before.

Pull like a mofo. You can try to use a pry bar and get it where the boot attaches just out of the tranny. Be careful not to damage the boot or axle. If you are going to get them re-maned or fixed just grab the axle and pull.

Driver's side axle always give me a problem. Use a prybar or anything for that matter to give you some leverage.

OK, axle is out, I actually stuck a real narrow, long flattaip in from the other side and tapped it out. I see now the little c-clip type deal that was in there, I guess it's designed to clip in once you put the shaft in.

When you put the axle back in, you center the clip (maybe using grease or grease cooled in a freezer) and then line it up and slam the axle back in. It's easier to push the axle straight down with the tranny out of the car and then lift in the tranny/axle assembly.

Search for lots of stories on how to do (and not do) this.
