Another NX Part difference found
Well, Another unknown NX fact.
We found another difference between the 91/92 NX and the 93 NX..

The Steering Knuckle/Spindle is constructed differently on the 93 NX and are not interchangable with the 91/92 NX. The knuckle arm section which connects to the End-links are longer & at a different angle on the 91/92 NX.

Last fall, my hub broke off the knuckle and needed replacing. I installed a knuckle with hub from a 92 NX. My steering hasnt been the same since: shorter turning radiance and tire rubbing on inside of the wheel bay when making sharp turns.

Finally, I got around to investigating this and found the difference with the help of forum members Jensen, Rob, Pete & Keo.. The only fix was to only use a 93 NX knuckle. So, yesterday at Jensens shop, we rebuilt my old 93 knuckle:
- Pressed out the old wheel bearings & seals from the 93 knuckle
- Pressed out the hub from another NX knuckle (hubs are the same) & removed the ring on the hub
- Rebuilt the old knuckle by pressing-in new wheel bearings & seals (inner & outer), and then pressing in the hub..
Voila.. a rebuilt 93 NX Steering knuckle/hub assembly!

I will now need a new alignment but my turning radiance is back to normal, and the tires does not rub on extreme turns now...

Hopefully this will help someone if the need arises to replace/change the steering knuckle on your eggs!

this can be true unless there is a diffrence between automatic knuckles and 5 speed ones...

Good point Jen.. This is also a possibility...

When I talked to Nissan they said there were like 8 different part numbers for NX coupe spindles listed.

So it has the turning radius of a bus again?

hmm, I had to double check myself. I have the Nissan fast on my computer and they're 2 part #'s. one for non ABS and one for ABS, that's it nothing else. for all B13's. Maybe the one Jensen had was bent??

snap some pic Scotty.

I will try to take some pic.. But, my knuckle is already installed

But they are different... The connection arm for the steering end-link is about 1 1/2 inches longer
and has approx 12deg angle up difference on the 91/92 Spindles.
I pulled Fonque's knuckle from his wrecked 92 NX. It was shaped/molded just like the one from Jensen's NX.

I have the FAST software installed too (Infiniti & Nissan). And found the same stuff as you: only 40015-50Y00 NON-ABS and 40015-53Y00 ABS.

Ish: Your NX may turn like a bus but my NX now turns on a Dime; Just like it use to!!

*******************************************

WAIT a minute... All of us now own 93 NXs: Jensen, Mike, me & maybe even Keo (not sure of Robs NX model year).
Everyone measure the length of the arm on your drivers spindle and post the results.

I doubt it but.... Maybe someone did some sort of mod and installed a spindle from another Nissan or something before I bought it. Cause my car does truly have a Great turning radius and everyone else seems to complain about their eggs turning radius.

I will also check Joel's NX knuckle length later this week..
(yep, Joel is now has another Nissan and is a proud owner of a white 93 NX. Bet the engine will be modded by Xmas).
