NX Ride Height w/ Progress Coilovers
I have KSport coilovers on my NX (I know, know...) and I'm trying to find the optimum ride height to set them and LEAVE them the hell ALONE, forever!! Sometimes adjustability is a bad thing.
My theory, and I believe it to be a sound one, is this:
Given the amount of understanding and knowledge Mike K. and the guys have about B13 suspension travel, that they would have engineered the correct ride height into the Progress coils.

Anybody out there....axle spindle to fender, jack points to ground...anything?

Thanks
Rob

I started at about 24" from ground to bottom of fender lip. Then adjusted it up until the bump steer was livable. If you really want to dial it in, the car should be corner weighted, as well. Overkill for a street car, IMO.

Keep in mind, no two cars are the same. Therefore, adjustability is needed to shift the weight around. Having a fixed ride height defeats that purpose.

You can lower it about 1" to 1.5" lower than stock and still have decent handling. I don't have an NX anymore to give you measurements but there was a wheel gap of about an inch when running 205-50-15 tires.

Thanks for the help guys, very much appreciated.

I'm definitely not going to go all out & corner weight, etc...this is a daily driver (a pretty fun one at that).
I did want to try and establish a solid starting point to work from. You are correct sir-no two cars are the same. Isn't it wonderful?!

Another concern of mine is the longeivity of axles, wheel bearings, and the other parts that die early when things go bump in the night. Lowering the car will of course accelerate wear on those parts, but I do want to get the most part life I can get vs. best handling, with what I currently have.

I remember reading somewhere a long time ago that the stock fender-ground distance for an NX is 25".
Right now I'm at 23 3/8" front, 24" rear and the car feels pretty neutral. Tie rods are at a pretty scary angle, tho'. Front end plants solid and the rear end rotates very well with throttle, even without the rear sway bar links attached.
I know this kind of flies in the face of reason, given it's front wheel drive car, but true. I have extensively braced the rear strut towers. Perhaps thats enough, coupled with the higher spring rate.
The KSport end link design LOOKS really great in pictures, but not so much in real life...they come loose, rotate, and eat tires. Its a shame-they do look like they mean bizness. They had to go.
