Patinthehat's build thread
So i figured this is going to be the year that i can really start working on upgrades on my car. So i figured, why not start a thread

So a little history on the car. It is a 91 nx2000. i bought this off of Bowlcut back in June of 2008. He purchased the car from Calum, who was using it for testing on his ECU's. So my car is practically famous! Before that it was owned by a guy in S.C. who purchased it new and owned it for about 10 yrs or so. He took great care of it. I managed to get all his service receipts and even the window sticker from the dealership.

When i bought the car, it was in need of an O2 sensor, clutch was on its last leg, and the suspension wasn't far behind. The car came with Calum ECU alpha board, WAI, crush bent 2.5" exhaust, knockoff B&M shortshifter. So since then i have put in a Spec stage 1 and also some agx's with stock springs.

Like i said this is the year that i plan on really starting on my nx. my goals for this year: VE swap, N1 cams, some road magnets to go with the agx's, some random misc interior parts to get it looking a lot nicer. So yeah its a lot to read lol but i am gonna keep progress updated here with pics, etc. I really enjoy reading other build threads and it is really a motivation to get workin on my car. So if you have any questions, comments, suggestions let me know!

Here are some pics:

Within the past couple months i started having some engine noise coming from the passenger side of the engine. The sound was coming from inside the engine so i figured it was something to do with the chain. Talked to some friends and everyone pretty much said its probably the timing chain tensioner. I took the valve cover off saturday to check under there and the front bottom chain guard seems to be looser than what it should be. The chain tensioner in the engine is extended almost as far as the replacement and there is no budging on it. so im starting to think it might be the chain guard rattling around. So planning to take a closer look at it this week. i did snap some pictures of the engine though. 175k on the motor and i think this is pretty dang clean.

dam I love the looks of the SR head. I have seen many of them in various forms and have owned a lot of them. They are the best 4 cylinder motor EVER IMO.

I am an SR20fanboi with great appreciation for the SR20 oh and the RBs are awesome as well. The testimony to the SR is that while it is around 20 years old it can still kick the crap out of new production cars today such as the miata.
