Fits under the seat or just chills out in the back seat area?

Just chills in the area behind the passenger seat for now. Fits perfectly though.

How does it sound? I really like what you did with the doors but is the sound deadening overkill is there a point where you put too much. Also would the wood make your doors quite a bit heavier the sound deadening material probably isn't light either. Can you feel if the door is heavier when you open and close it?

It sounds great! Solid midbass, crisp and clear highs and no rattles.

By an audiophiles standards it definitely wasn't overkill. Most audio geeks would have put much more deadening on the doors than I did.

1/4" MDF weighs practically nothing. 40 sq/ft of eDead v1SE² weighs 20 lbs. I still have some left over so I added less than 10 lbs to each door total (including MDF panels).

The door doesn't feel any heavier. It just closes with a nice solid thud. Like the doors on my Caddy.

Here is a link directly to the product. It does not seem excessively expensive, and I am just looking at the regular price, not the "forum" price.

B13 doors sound like tin cans when they close and weigh nothing.

I am currently restoring my Classic. The entire interior is utterly and completely devoid of anything. Right down to the OEM sound insulation, metal, and the dash itself. Everything else is sitting in my living room.

Can you give me an idea on how much I should order to do a good job on the entire vehicle? I'm thinking doors, firewall, cabin floor, trunk-side of IKEA brace, trunk floor/sides/and inside of trunk-lid, possibly the roof. Or, should I just follow the "where to put it" guide on the Elemental Designs web-site? Which gives you (wide) "estimates" on how much you'll need for a given vehicle area.

I *think* that I would not mind adding an extra eighty (80) to one-hundred (100) pounds to my Classic. Ie...one-hundred and sixty (160) to two-hundred (200) square feet of this product. That is about $320.00 worth of this product, not counting our "forum" discount. Placed correctly, would that amount of product have a significant impact on the noise-floor in my Classic?

In your opinion, is this stuff as good as Dynamat? I see you have Dynamat on your door from a previous install. Same quality? Better?

Thanks for any insight you can give me.

This an excellent opportunity to do this since your interior is completely stripped down. If I were in your situation I would definitely put a layer over everything.

As you mentioned, I would throw a layer on the outer door, inner door and door panels (30-40ft²). Firewall and floor (30-40ft²). Trunk (30-40ft²). Roof (30ft²). So, yeah, I'd say about 150ft² to do the entire car.

Completely deadening your car will dramatically reduce wind, road, motor, and exhaust noise. It will also keep the car cooler in the summer, warmer in the winter, and create a better acoustical enviroment for audio.

IMO This stuff is much better than Dynamat. I actually removed all the dynamat in my car prior to using the edead. The dynamat I used was asphalt based as opposed to butyl based and was starting to peel away from the applied surface. The v1SE² sticks like crazy, stays put and was easier to form around irregular surfaces.

120 Sq. Ft. of eDead v1 with free roller here for $130 shipped. This might be the perfect option for you Shawn. A little thinner/ lighter and you may find this would be enough to do your entire car. It would be a good start and if you need more you could always order some from Elemental Designs.

Awesome. Thanks for the feedback.

I am building my Ultimate Daily Driver. And although I am looking at a minimalist yet good quality stereo system, any system will sound much, much better in a quieter vehicle. Correct me if I am wrong, but dropping the ambient noise by 3db essentially means you need half the power to get the same music volume over the road noise.

That forum discount is SWEET. Quite a discount indeed. That rocks.

BTW, your install looks bad-ass. Very nice and thorough work indeed.

Appreciate your input and advice.

Thanks man. Happy to help.

I'd say you are building the Ultimate Daily Driver period.

Yes, you will definitely gain more output from your speakers if you drop the ambient noise. What kind of audio system are you contemplating?

The forum discount IS sweet indeed.

To see all of the forum discounts just type "forum" into the window in the top left corner of the ED homepage and hit search. Here are the current discounts: http://www.edesignaudio.com/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=forum

Love it if they included free shipping on that stuff. I'd be all over it like right now

Is there a certain low temp where this doesn't adhere very well? Might do it this winter if I get a chance. DET comes first though.

ED says that "No heatgun is required when installing eDead v1/SE in temperatures above 50D Fahrenheit". So, if it is colder than that I think you could heat it up with a heat gun or a hair dryer. I found that if I left it in the sun for a while to heat up it was a little easier to work with.
