Final alternative = Poor-mans Lojack.

I'm not spilling the beans on this one.

Hint, you'll need a dedicated on-board processor, GPS receiver and cellular signal transmitter, wired to transmit to your data logger co-ordinates and time.
(Just like the one in your cell phone).

Unfortunately, the things we have in our cars are usually worth more than our cars. CD's, jackets, tools, ipods, wheels, big front mounts are a lot easier to sell than a used sr20de or trunk lid. Wiring in kill switches may seem smart now but can present huge wiring gremlins later (I hate hacked wiring). sorry to rain on the parade.

installing kill switches doesn't mean hacked wiring. Most of the stuff I've installed in hondas has always looked factory. It's not like i'm using vampire taps or anything. It's usually cut and soldered with heat shrink tubing. If that = hacked, then 90% of aftermarket radios must be working by miracles alone.

Cool idea and all, but if a thief wants the car, they can always tow it.

yes, but honestly, those are professional theives, most of the time nothing will stop them. stopping some hood rat from taking it and joy riding it, which is the majority of thefts helps..

Ya, always solder and heat shrink no matter where it is.

Yes, but I would guess that most "hood rat" thieves can't realize someone just pulled an injector fuse. Which is free btw...

Ya, pull the fuel pump fuse!

Guys with tow trucks are looking for newer cars, and higher priced cars!
