Agreed, I do the same but with front aux.

Cliff, what is a fair price for your CD7000? $150? $175?

This is what I installed in my SE-R after I got tired of that mid 90's Pioneer HU that was in the car...
Pioneer DEH-3200UB CD receiver at Crutchfield.com
It was $150 on Crutchfield when I got it, but I paid $120 & the guy threw in a usb-ipod cable for free too.
For being on a budget, thats not a bad HU! I recomend!

If I install a decent alarm later on I'll update to something like this
Alpine CDA-117 CD receiver at Crutchfield Signature

or go straight Digital Media Receiver
Alpine iDA-X305S Digital media receiver at Crutchfield Signature

I tried installing my OE radio..

No go.. I'm obviously not getting power and/or ground to my head unit.. So the troubleshooting begins. schematic anyone???

some units ground through the antenna make sure it is fully pluged in if you are testing it with the radio half hanging out...

oh yeah?? damn. that might be why my stock unit wasn't working, I didn't plug in the antenna, I just wanted to see if it would turn on with the harness plugged in and it wouldn't.. I had no idea it might get ground from the antenna for the entire unit.

Does anyone have a wiring schematic of the entire radio system? I need to get this fixed soon before I go nuts.

Oh and you usually need to screw it into the chassis to make ground.

it seems like i've had them work before by just plugging them in.. hmm..

i've replaced radio's on B13's so many times.. don't ever remember one not working..

On b13 and b14 chassis, you have to ground directly to chassis for headunits. The antenna doesn't need to be connected.

I am also currently looking at a new head unit. I am going Pioneer PRS all around. When I first planned it I was going to purchase the DEH-P800PRS, but they are now discontinued. There was one on eBay last night but I was too slow to grab it! I would recommend either the 800 or its replacement the 880PRS (both replaced by the DEX). If you want quality and are partial to Pioneer, they are a good fit and very clean looking.
