Planning my next audio setup
And I need some ideas on door speakers. I'm looking for SQL, not SPL. This will be going into my wrx wagon (Once I go pick it up).

From what everyone has said, I should just omit/fill the rear doors and focus on front soundstage, and then a decent amp/sub combination for LFE. This will all be from scratch. I plan on running an Eclipse CD5030. Everything else is fair game, but it must be mind numbing joy. I don't want super crispy, or earbleeding clarity. It must be silky smooth. Stuff that gets you high and lost in the music.

Everyones tastes are different. What i suggest is go listen to a couple sets of components and see what fits you. Some will have more tweeter and some will be a little more mellow. If OZ was still around i would suggest them but unless you can find some it might be difficult.

For an amp i would suggest 75-100W RMS (real RMS) per channel with a nice built in crossover. You can get away with a 4 channel, 2 fronts and bridged rear to sub. Find a single 12" that fits your space requirements and give it 300-400 watts RMS from the bridged rear channel should be fine.

Browse a few higher end shops around your area and find out what sounds good and fits your budget. I would spend more on an amp then speakers if you have a tighter budget and upgrade speakers later.

For an idea as to what my ear likes:

B&W 8" LFE, Paradigm Atom .v5 bookshelf speakers, C-190 Center, Onkyo Receiver.

If you've ever heard Bowers & Wilkins speakers, imagine Paradigms being there, but a lot cheaper.

You should look into the Infinity Kappa speaker series. I have a set in my NX, and I have a friend with some of the Kappa plate speakers. We're both running 4ch Rockford amps running 110wx4, and let me tell you these things sing. I almost cried when I heard how well they sounded. I feel like I'm in the middle of a concert hall when I am in my car. At any volume they sound ultra clear.

As for a subwoofer, definitely look into a JL if you're wanting some crisp and punchy, and can afford it. Otherwise, a single 12" Alpine Type-R I believe would set off your lows quite nicely (some people like them a lot, some really don't. I think they sound quite nice). If you're willing to sacrifice a bit more space, I'd honestly shoot for some 10" subs. One 10" Type-R might be nice, but there is nothing like the punch and responsiveness of two 10" subs.

Thanks for the Recommendation.

Right now, I'm looking at CDT, Polk, Zaph, Seas, or Focal for Mids.

Midbass duty will be with the eu700's I have in the garage.

Tweets by Seas.

Since the HU will have built in Xover and T/A, I won't need to buy component sets, I can build piece by piece. A couple of amps under the seats, and an amp in the rear with a 10" driver for the sub 80Hz duty, and it should be a bitchin' system, still on a budget.

Thats quite a budget. Lol. Sounds like you pretty much know what you want to do. For silky smooth highs that aren't harsh I like silk dome tweeters. I've heard several people say that CDT makes some nice speakers and they are reasonably priced. Check out woofersetc.com.

Luckily you have plenty of sound DEADening material in the rear. Hookers.

Sounds like a pretty well rounded system. What amps are you using?

Also good to hear you are putting those little buggers to use I just had a box built by a pal of mine for 2 of them. Just got the subs back from E.D. getting checked over and I'll be putting them in at some point this week hopefully. My design for the box is in another thread in this section.
