See post #38 of this thread. It has a link to a major blow-out sale at WoofersEtc. I read the CDT reviews, and pounced on them.

Does that mean I bought good sh*t?

The highs and mids were great. Everything you'd expect from a decent system. Absolutely no complaints here (although I didn't have any testing CDs with me, just Shawn's Kid Rock).
I sat for a bit listening to the sub trying to find out if it would make me happy. It seems to do very well for the tight, higher bass. No problems between 100-30 Hz (just as Shawn said). It's not going to get you much lower than that. So that bass hits tight and clean as long as you're listening to stuff with bass there. Anything lower and you're still going to be lacking. I'm sort of picky though, and my ideal would be an 8" like Shawn's backed up by a 10" and a 12" but you know, we can't have all that...

After sitting in his car for a couple of songs, I was pretty impresses with his head unit and mid and high components he had. Everything was really clear. But if you are like most 20 something year olds like myself, you want more bass. His bass set up was very small and compact if that's something you want. Maybe add another unit under the driver side and it might satisfy most but a single 10" in a sealed box would probably be better.
With all the foam he had in hide car I heard no ratteling or anything. Shawn B had the cleanest classic at the convention.

Good review.

I want it clean, clear, tight and well balanced.

Fair enough. I am quite sure that you younger generation folks my indeed want more bottom end in your systems. For me it is perfect, well-balanced, and has plenty of SPL's for my uses.

Jerry Eads rode in my vehicle and agrees. I am very, very, happy with the foam and Quietcar results.

Thank you sir. It is still a work in progress, but I appreciate it.

Off to the alarm/tint shop in about fifteen minutes.

Here's the Audio Equipment Pictures....

The subwoofer placement. More than enough for a tight, clean, punchy bass at 30-120 hz. Rounds out the bottom end, Kid Rocks "All Summer Long" sounds terrific when the kick-drum comes in. Plenty for a well-rounded, clean, 40+ adult sound-system. More clean SPL than I will ever use. Bass-Head Youngsters may want more ooomph.

Sub and CDT components laid out.

Spacer action in the rear courtesy of me. Pressboard and a jigsaw.

Door mid-driver and crossover cleanly mounted on E-Dead.

Door with tweeter mounted. The center of that cover will be carefully painted to black with a paint-pen.

I freakin' love it. As good as the "Upgraded OEM Bose" system in my 2004 Tahoe. For a little over 500 bucks shipped, it is a stunning bargain of audio goodness.

this is what i mean. i have had a 300watt rms sealed DVC 12inch for the past few years and i dont think i use even 1/4 the power. i listen to mostly metal and all i need is something that can hit a bit harder than my currently stock door speakers for the double bass drum kicks thats all i need.

I am positive that your set-up would be severe overkill for myself as well.

I understand the folks that require heart-stopping bass, but I am not one of them.

You'll get exactly what you want out of this sub. Like I said, nice, tight, punchy bass. Plenty to keep up with 34 watts RMS per channel from my JVC headunit (about double the RMS-wattage of most headunits). The system is louder than I will ever play it.

Younger guys with big-bass dreams and multiple-amp systems can look elsewhere. However, for most normal folks, or enthusiasts that are a bit older, this subwoofer will augment your component speakers perfectly. I absolutely love it, both the sound quality, and SPL's are terrific.

Looks like the perfect system for a performance oriented SE-R owner who enjoys quality sound.
