What's the gauge of wire thats run to the back that needs to be used to insure that the battery stays charged? My daily has the battery in the back and its a bit slow cranking. Never fails to fire up though. Just curious if I need to upgrade the wiring or move it back up front.

The battery will stay charged with some small gauge wire. 8 gauge is plenty. However, the starter draws WAY more power than that all at once, so you want some thicker stuff. The smallest anyone recommends ever is 4 gauge. Most go bigger (it's that overkill mentality).

The size of the stock wire to the starter is 4 gauge by the way. I personally run 4 gauge from the trunk all the way to the starter and I never have issues with slow cranking or anything (with a good battery).

Cool benn..just spent the last 45min reading the manifesto, waiting to gey my,tires installed!yay

Ive got almost everytinh to do,this...2new distribution batt terminals, distobution block, for inside the bay, but i still have my oringall amp wiring going from bay to,trunk whick is 2gauge...whih will just get switched around

But shall 2gaugr be enouh i take it?...my amp is a small infinity baslink,lil 200watt banger...doesnt draw too much,idk....

I just did mine. I tried 4 gauge and it was too small. 0 gauge and it works very well now. I used a 150AMP Stinger Circuit Breaker.

Ohh,yeah cicuitbreaker....my amp kit has a 175amp fuse inline...think,this will ok?

I would only use 4g for my lil amp...so im thinking my 2 gauge my be ok...0gauge aint cheap!...but if its better ill wait

I paid $6 a foot for the 0 gauge Stinger power wire but I was sick of dealing with the electrical problem I was dealing with. (starter was not getting enough juice and after long trips, it was very apparent the wire i had had minor heat soaking issues)

I do not recommend using a wet battery like I do. Another mistake which I found out about a few days ago courtesy of Nelson Ledges, hehe.

Dry cell Optima battery would be nice or a lightweight odyssey, just to remove the weight up front and relocate the weight somewhere more useful.

The final thing is a mounting setup. I recommend bolting something down to the trunk sheet metal. I argued tooth and nail with my Dad on this and his stubborn old self forced use to use a sub-par mounting setup. (which, once again, courtesy of Nelson Ledges, proved to be less than optimal)

2-gauge sounds like overkill for that power amp. I run 8-gauge even to 500W (250W RMS) amps. I don't think about 4-gauge for an amp until well above that.

Use 2ga minimum if possible... Go 0ga if you can... I usually use two breakers (one in the engine bay, and one in the trunk next to the battery. I need to add another on my sentra. I've used 4 ga and it's worked okay but a little insurance doesn't hurt.

He's talking about amp wiring, not battery-to-starter wiring. It's getting a bit confusing in here. =]
