Best Swap For 96 200sx ser?

So I have a 96 200sx ser, and in about a month or so I plan on swapping it. And I was wondering if I swap it with a sr20det, can I still keep my stock tranny with an aftermarket clutch? or go VVL? They're literally the same price on this website, and I understand I would need wiring harnesses for either, and an ECU. Some tips? Nissan & Infiniti

What are your hp goals, trying to keep it daily driven? This will decide what you go with.

I thought you are currently having emissions trouble?

Keep what you have and build that into a turbocharged motor. This way you will not have to worry about emissions again unless you tune it to not pass, but why would you want to do that.

I'm thinking around 200hp or so. and once I pass i was thinking of swapping it. unless there is a way to turbo it for a nice boost in hp? and btw i plan on driving this thing as a daily driver but garaging it for winters.

If smogging is gonna be a hassle I'd stick with DE power and just do the tried and true upgrades. A 160 whp DE can still be fun.
