- I spy another ACT clutch disc victim. Apparently they changed there old design of using the exedy disc and started using their own components(yellow spring disc). I'm not sure why they didn't do this in the first place as exedy is junk to me. This happened to me this pasted December and had me towing my car home as the car was parked for about 3 months because of it. #smh. It's like they literally deteriorate O_o. Not wear down, but deteriorate.

^Here is the disc I planned on using for my turbo setup. It has the update yellow springs, but I want to know how many SR guys have had problems from ACT disc with the yellow springs before I use it.

I'm running that disc with the HD pressure plate on my AWD GTiR. Several launches on it with Rs-3's no sign of giving up. probably only 8000 km on it though

They have a vendor section on the other forum. I've been kind of arguing/discussing with their customer service representative. They seem to think the updated part is the answer whereas I am of the view they should do more. The guy's name is Rich and he is there trying to answer for it so that is a big + in my book.

What I'm going to do is buy a clutchmasters or JWT unit from Greg V.

How long had ACT been using exedy disc? When did they switch over?

see how the springs in the pics above look like theyve been touched by another metal, well mine was just like that but it had scratches into it like someone took a grinder to it!!

this is what the disc looked like when i pulled it out...see the springs are all cut up and they were wiggling inside the space...and there were pieces from the plate ripped off and inside causing noises and not letting the gears go in!

***can someone edit this and zoom in on the disc a bit...thanks

As a reminder, this same issue isn't just with ACT clutches. I have had the same thing happen to a ACT street disc, Key Value disc, and some cheap Chinese disc that was in the car when I purchased it (3 cars).

I also had an ACT disc hold up under HPDE use. In general, it is a huge PITA.

Good luck to the OP - I don't blame you for being pissed for such a short use.

I have stopped using act due to the erratic quality of their products. I have never had a issue with a clutch masters setup or jwt setup. I currently running the cm stg 5 on my car.
