And less expensive, still still annoying, it usually *will* take the battery with it (or greatly reduce it's lifespan).

I had an autozone alternator literally fall apart while driving my old TSI talon, the 4 bolts that held the case together backed out and destroyed the belt.

I also had one on my SER randomly start putting out 19v and it bulged the battery and made it start leaking acid around the posts.

Well, I figure if autozone has a 100% labor guarantee to shops that install these alternators, they must be decent, but they haven't always been that way. The new guys making them seem to be doing really well.

The old stuff wasn't all that good. But like I said, I've had these parts on both my sentras for the better part of 5 years and I have yet to have a failure.

Welp, ya'll were right. Slapped another AAP alternator in there (this is the last time) and the car fired right up. I'm getting pretty good at this - had the thing out in about 10 minutes.

UPDATE: So umm right after the alternator installation, I noticed that at night my high beams no longer functioned, and the standard beams would sometimes flicker or dim out. I went to advance the next day and had my charging system tested, which their little machine said it passed. I took out the headlight bulbs and the high beam filament was burned up bad. I bought some silverstars yesterday, slapped 'em in.

Today I have no regular beams, but my high beams work and my battery and brake light are coming on at random, more so at idle it seems. Again, if I'm at idle and I blip the throttle, the lights go off. What's happening here? Was the last alternator good and I have a faulty alternator harness? Who has an alternator harness they went to sell me if so?
