Let's Play, Diagnose my transmission problem
What could cause a clutch pedal not to come back up from the floor but still engage in all the gears. If I push it half way down it comes back up but if I push it anymore then it sticks to the floor.

Don't tell me its my new clutch, its not. It did this with the last clutch too which is why I replaced it in the first place. I had a Nissan tech helping me do the clutch swap and we are both confident that we did things correctly.

Clutch cable might be bad. I'm sure tranny has nothing to do with clutch pedal.

I think its a stretched clutch cable. Take it out and inspect it

Yeah @ op just think about it, if its not the clutch, it has to do with something from the transmission to the pedal, either something wrong with the pedal or something wrong with the clutch cable. Easiest way to diagnose things is to visualize how everything works.

I know exactly what this is. I need to search to find the diagrams though.

Usually the solution is to adjust the clutch cable so it "grabs" higher off the floor. You need to "shorten" the clutch cable.

In rare cases the clutch cable needs to be adjusted so the clutch "grabs" lower towards the floor. Make the clutch cable "longer".

This is basically what is happening. This is the cause for 99% of issues.

Clutch pedal sticks when depressed! - SR20 Forum

The diagram was for the other 1% of problems. Don't worry about that. Just adjust your cable shorter and you'll be all set. It will grab higher off the floor. You just have to live with it.

If this happens after a clutch install, it means you just need to adjust the cable. If this happens all of a sudden to you, it means your cable is stretching and likely failing quickly and you should buy a new cable ASAP.
