Bleeding the fuel system
Does anyone know the best location to bleed air out of the fuel system. I know there are several places but not sure quite where. I recently replaced my injectors and fuel filter and when I turn the fuel pump on I hear like a whistle say like wear the air is moving along the lines. The whistle goes away after a second then it takes 4 or 5 cranks before it finally starts, runs ok, still got a residue fuel smelll in the inside, real crappy gas mileage...I have run out of ideas on trying to adjust this right. Carbon fouled plugs, was running 6's.

There's really no bleeding air out of the fuel system either you have a leak or the pump may not be picking up fuel in the tank ( sock ) . When you turn the car on it will bleed air out with in the first few seconds . Put a fuel gauge on it and check pressure to see if it holds when you shut the car off . It's should drop slowly but not rapidly . Have you also checked the fuel Lines near the sending unit they could be dry roted or cracked ? You said it's fouling plugs ? Sounds like an inj maybe leaking down don't hold me to that .

The pump self primes.

Check the fuel inj, they might be leaking.

Stratton.

+10 ... but a question about that... i replaced my fuel pump like a year ago for a walbro one and i noticed that with this one the pressure doesn't holds when the car is shuts off like with the stock one? it holds for like2 or 3 secs, is this because is a racing one? a guy told me that but want to make sure and i don't have any leaks i already checked.

kinda sounds like the issue i was just having, ended up being a bad Fuel pressure regulator, do you have a aftermarket fpr or stock, also do you have a a fp gauge?

I will try the fuel gauge I have no idea what the pressure reads right now.

I have a brand new FPR from rockauto on there now also new injectors too, if there was fuel leaking there would be evidence of it somewhere, only thing I can think of is the fuel is evaporting before it hits the ground. Will check it today

I've experienced the same thing with the Walbro 255 HP fuel pump. For some reason it doesn't seem to have a check valve to maintain fuel line pressure for any real length of time. I'm not 100% certain this is the case, but it seems to be true.

/\ Ben this maybe the case as my b14 ve had a walbro255 and it would take 2-3 cranks before it fired but if I cylcled the key it would catch the first crank due to priming the fule line . My b13 acts simalar and has the same walbro but with a smaller highflow fuel filter and does'nt take as many cranks . Ive placed a fuel gauge on both cars and found my b14 dropped faster hmmmm... Could be different style walbro's ?
