Starter question
The starter on my B14 will stop working soon. When you try to get a new one from the auto part store, they show a mitsubishi and a Hitachi starter. The question is, there is any way to know which one the car use without taking out? May be with the VIN #?

Most likely, same part, different brands. I want to say Mitsu is the better brand, but I honestly can't tell you which one will outlive the other.

Going old school on this one: Problems and Fixes

They both fit and "work" but you want the Mitsubishi one. The Hitachi one may have been redesigned since then, but why chance it?

The mitsu is the better one in this case, yes. Be sure to take out your starter before you bother since three times in my case it was problems with the solenoid attached to the starter and not the starter itself - One time it was a simple ring terminal fix. Check that first, takes 2 seconds - 2 bolts and badda bing.

vin is too short. But like everyone says Mitsu is the one you want.

Thanks for your responses. The starter still working, but is making a lot of noise and is getting slower. I don't want to wait until stop working.

update:

After checking my car, it has the Hitachi starter. I went here to check the pictures:

Starters - Advance Auto Parts

But everybody said the Mitsubishi is better, that is the one that I'm going to get tomorrow.

Thanks!

Aftermarket rebuilt startes from the autoparts store suck.

Get a used original Nissan starter. I have over 20 starters in stock for $65 shipped.
