Broken Dowel Pin! and fell into the crank case!!
Hey,
Long story short... pin broke(rather flew out the hole) on my exhaust cam and it fell into the crank case... whats next?

can i get a dowel pin to reinstall? camshaft seems fine

do i have to pull off the crank cover?

will it drop in the oil pan?

do you mean timing cover? If thats where it fell down, by the timing chain, it probably fell down to the baffle plate above the lower oil pan. You'll need to take to oil pan off, and the baffle plate, and hope you find it. There is a chance it got caught on a guide or the chain on it's way down, though, and that will cause issues. Either way, don't even try to start it or crank it over until you've got that piece firmly in your hand and out of the engine.

As far as getting a replacement dowel pin, i don't see why not, but i've never dealt with that and can't really offer anything solid for you there.
