Removing ECU speed limiter, and SAFC ?'s
First off I currently have a U12 det ecu on my b13 and will soon have a t28, 550cc injectors, and Z32 maf.

Obviously the stock ecu will not work for the Z32 maf and subaru injectors so I purchased an SAFC2 to use for tuning. I was told the det is better to use then a de ecu due to it being closer to my new setup (Instead of adjusting from an stock de which is a stretch, im adjusting from a det)

The problem with that is my det ecu has a speed cut at 115mph or whatever it is, and the stock de ecu from my 92' has none. My new goals are 300+ which is going to cause the limiter to come up very fast.

I would like to know if anyone has used the HKS speed defencer or Greddy SLC and if they work? I have tried cutting the wires, and that was worthless.

Should I just go with DET ecu / SAFC2 / Speed Defencer or DE ecu / safc2?

P10 ECU+ SAFCII=WIN

Or get yourself a Calum RT and call it a day

No Matter What For The Afc Youll Need To Tune So Might As Well Have De Ecu W/no Speedlimiter Itll Be Less Cutting Into The Harness... If Not Greddy Speed Limiter Remover Will Work Well...

No offense, but calum takes forever nowadays. I can get my car to run well on an safc for $150 so I'm ok with that for now.

David, just remember that the safc can only tune 40% over the ecu's stock injector size well. I've hooked up so many safc's for people and it isnt a bad option as long as you have a wideband. So, if you use stock de ecu , the safc can only correct about up to 370cc. So......what i'm trying to say is..wait for calum in the meantime.

I will tune it via dyno in the meantime with the safc and det ecu. In the future I'll invest in the Calum. The speed defencer is cheap and easy to hook up along side of it.

Really? I never had a problem. Man buy an extra ECU. Highport G20 ECUs are $27 with the core charge at the local pick n pull. Calum always hits me off quickly but a RT is worth more than an APEX-i SAFC II and stock. It does timing and dozens of other tihgns. That's why I sold a Calum Basic and SAFC-II to get RT. I made money on that deal. I did have a Black AFC though.
