The DoD has done this for a number of years to save paper. They're kept "online" for one calendar year. There is however, the option to continue the paper stub as well. Although this may now not be an option. I've used the online option exclusively for a number of years now as it saves paper and keeps my mailbox debris down. I would say though that there should still be the option for paper, or at the very least be able to request the print out from them or do it yourself using their facilities.
