Subaru Alarm %#@$&$
Finally went to the dealer to make some more door key copies, at least they weren't chipped so $6 per key instead of $100. Well I thought all was well until I decided to test them out in the door, they unlocked the car no problem, but as soon as you open the door the alarm would deafen you. Figured it was the key that they made.
Next day tried with the original key, same story alarm goes off if you use the key to open the door. Now I'm like WTF! Started researching and it's not a problem, it's a feature according to Subaru. I understand the reasoning behind it, but implementation is completely stupid. Basically I have to carry a giant keyless fob unless I want the alarm going off every time I use the key to open the door.
This is a big problem for us outdoorsy people that take just the key with us in case we get wet. Now you can turn of the alarm, by inserting the key into the ignition and turning it off and on three times it seems, but still this sucks. My pocket is already full with my P11 and B15 keys and fobs.
The giant fob that the car shipped with is on the right, looks like I can get the newer fob and get it working at least.
