You can get a lot of the parts from Europe. I think Cosworth even still makes some of the stuff. Of course if Ford would wake up we would see the 2013 Escort RS here in the US, but they have their head up their ass. At the beginning of 2012 they said it was going to happen, then about 2 months ago they changed their mind and said nope.

You do have to ask yourself though. Would you buy one for $39K? That was the estimated price.

Now the closest you can get is if you buy their "off-road" only race/ralley car that I think is around 110K.

Great car. I never liked the spoiler, but that was a very well built and engineered car. Over here, Escorts are a joke that you tell at a party. Over there though, completely different. Better than the GTi-R.

I wouldn't say all escorts are a joke. There are some that run Mazda 323 engines in them and they are pretty zippy cars.

If I had to call any one car a joke car, and it's probably because I have yet to see one run without issue, would be a ford Probe/RX-6. Seems to not matter what you put into the car, they just run like pure crap and the cost of what you put in them almost never seem to be seen in the numbers. Pure POS!

Having owned a 96 probe gt i can tell you it was no peice of junk but was by far no fast car neither you want to make it fast drop a jdm klze 2.5 swap in it . Sure it had problems but dont every car ? The 4cyl and the automatics were prone to fair share of problems mine never left me stranded . Mine handled very good with coilovers . They dont respond well to bolt ons . SCC magizine did a write up on one and found they lost hp on the dyno adding a set of headers go figure .

Ive also had a 93 escort gt . My plan was to do a 323gtx swap but lost interest sold it and jumped into a rx-7. If only they put the awd trubo set in it to begin with . They also make a body kit to make it look like a cosworth rs but its priced around $3k .

If any of you have been up to new england dragway in NH you might have seen a black escort gt running low 12's that had a gtx turbo swap. Wonder if its in the 11's ..

That's what I was saying. I'm not saying it's POS in terms of everyday use. But you can almost bet without the KLZE in it your numbers are just going to keep going down. Then you have the people that try boosting it and have to put a mile of pluming in the car just to get the air where it's suppose to go.

I never really call any car a joke car. I was just making reference to a car that is very difficult to do anything with and that was about the only car that always pops into my head.

Hell I had a 1999 Mitsubishi Galant/Magna that was twin turbo charged (everything from Austrailia so it cost $$). Damn car hauled ass, but was a PITA to work on. I got sick and tired of the wife breaking it to the point I said screw it and got her a Jeep Liberty. That would be my close 2nd POS car. Holy crap that car sucked.

Really? Thanks for the history lesson...
