I remember when I came up with this tranny mod for the B13 and B14s back in 2003-2004. A customer came in with a G20T for a clutch job and was going to leave the car with me for 2 weeks as he was going on vacation. When I took out the gear box it felt so much heavier, so I got it on a scale and it worked ou to be about 17-20 pounds more than the old school box. So I took it apart to find out why. Made some calls to inquire about the gear boxes strength which is said to be 15% stronger made so by Nissan to meet their new quality standards as the newer B15s were and made more HP. Once I had a few facts to back up my findings I converted it out to cable on the shop floor and then converted back to hydro to put it back on the car.

Great mod if you are going turbo on SR20DET equiped car.

Early gear box is crap.

dre got a question. ive broke two stock b13 trannys. ended up with shot peened/cryoed b13 tranny and got 5 gear pop out lol.

finally coined out for a p11 gear box, a year later the lsd took a **** ! ive never heard of anyone having this happen before. turn the steering wheel all the way the car shakes and jerks all over and wants to straighten itself out, but going straight its like normal. under boost it will what seems like to slip and jerk fowardish (solid motor mounts so its not motor movement)

i believe its the lsd as it doesnt grind going in our out of gears and shifts smoothly.

what lsd do you recommend and why.

I had a cyroed b13 that lasted a long time but finally broke half way down the track. Just picked up a b15 for $700 and filled it with shockproof so Ill see how long this lasts.

Keep in mind the diff is what gives the wheels the ability to turn at different speeds. If it's OK in a straight line (wheels turning at same speed), and acting up when making turns (wheels turning at different speeds) it sure sounds like a problem with the diff. Maybe some jackass drove around for a year with a donut on one side and burned it up.

If that's the case, I don't think a new locking mechanism would solve it, as that doesn't replace the entire differential.

^^^Heres what the new P11/B15 tranny looks like. This one is my personal Brand new P11 one. But just use these pictures for reference and drooling But its alot beefier then the old trannys. I drove in an NX the other day with one (Unijab's) and the gearing in the P11 isnt that noticeably different then the B13's. Its longer but not by much (and his was with the 17's he has on his car!). With my 45 series tires on my 14's it should work out perfect if I ever run it.

If I find an S2000 for a steal before the convention though this may well go up for sale. As of now it just sits as a spare for if I break my other tranny's.

Legend has it that the gear stack from the 1.8 is compatible with the B15/P11 trans.
