you'd have to run high impedance injectors as well, that's going to get rid of some of your options. I just hate sticking a charger on the car all the time...it sucks.

Check with these guys. I think they have the right stuff to regulate the high voltage battery, make it last the longest and take advantage of what you are looking for.

Charging at the track would be done with a generator or their power supply and a 16 volt charger. Really not a big deal. And the battery im getting is supposed to have 120 minutes of supply at heavy amp loads and at a track that is more than enough time for all the runs you will do even during an event. Your car isnt on more than probably a total of 5-10 minutes a run if you keep the car off in the lanes until just before your about to run which is what i do then drive back to the pits and shut off. Literally probably about 5 minutes of run time per run. The battery will probably not even need to be charged at all during a whole night of racing.

Some use a lithium ion battery which is expensive as hell and it only has 20-25 minutes of reserve time so yeah you would definitely need to charge every run or so.

Again i dont see any downfall to this especially for a full drag car. If I want to take the car out to a meet and drive around with it i can always throw the alt back on real quick and a 12 v battery back in. Easy.

I find it hard to drop the cash on something like this. Maybe if it showed a solid 10whp gain across the board.

I remember Jamie lost his alternator belt on the track and the car still went back to back low 11 second passes off a normal battery and still powered the car a good ways home.

For you hardcore n/a guys it could very well be worth the money. I mean the money you guys spend on building a custom intake manifold that might give you 6-10whp over a stock one you could quite possibly get that same power by eliminating the alternator.

For cory's setup that mixed with a mezier electric water pump so that he would have no drivebelts at all could definitely see over 10whp across the board. Also another benifit from the 16v battery with those running a stock ignition is you would get a stronger spark output as well.

Those things add up in the long run probably more so than some of the bolt on parts you spend double or triple on.

Just from a quick search, On roughly a 250whp n/a motor people were seeing 4-5whp across the board from an electric water pump setup, take that into account with the 16v battery and removal of the alternator which realisticly should take more power to turn than a water pump you could be looking at an easy 12-15whp gain by doing both together. Just a thought for you all motor guys.

My main concern about doing the whole thing isnt the 7-10whp gain from removing the alt but to keep voltage above 15 volts all the time to properly power the electronics and biggest thing the fuel pump. Fuel pumps dont like to see much less than 13 volts especially when seeing high pressures up to 80-90psi.

Also like it because it really does make more room in our small engine bays and cleans it up nicely.

Just buy an alternator with a higher output...seems like the obvious solution?

What do u know

I agree if ur concerned with power buy or make a hybrid on that puts out more juice.

I would say for some one is all about drag racing alt and wp removal is a good idea.
