I ll tell you what... If you plan on running a 9sec pass not launching the **** of the car it wont happen. You are right try useing the stock axles first.. If they work than great! Trust me I am the first person always looking for a better and cheaper way to do things. In my case making 600 whp and launching the hell out of my car... The stock axles did not work.....
Stock spec v axles will work fine as i said. Its all in how you launch as well. Preload and not launching at 8k and dead hooking helps out quite a bit.

Dead Hooking and launching at 8k is the way to go. When you make a good amount of power is the only way you are going to pull a 1.5 and be able to continue to keep the car moving forward. You are right about the pre loading. Thats alway a good idea.
The spec v axles will take the abuse man, Im not looking at paying 1300 or more for a set of axles when stocks will work fine.

I like you have been around drag racing for a long time. And always get the comment of i cant believe your on stock axles with that much power. Like im gonna break them on the street when daily driving it or getting on it. haha I just laugh. I dont get the traction on the street to break an axle and never have broken and axle on the street launching or roll punching it. My axles held up to over 2 1/2 years of drag strip launches on slicks pulling high 1.6 60's.
I again set my car up for drag racing. My car would leave side by side with a rwd car on the street, but would also break the stock axles all the time.

I guess I must have had ****ty ones everytime.lol

Fact is that i didnt expect to dead hook at 8k launch. A nice 6-6.5k launch would have been perfect and axle would not have broken as i have done those launches several times before without issues. I tried to up the anty on it and see what happened.

If you want to go fast there is no other way than to up the anti everytime...lol

But with the power i was making our stock axles have been known to hold and have held for me. Its all in the technique. Again ive pulled some sick 60fts that put some rwd guys on DR's to shame.

Its gonna come straight down to power. And with what im shooting for i dont think its far off. I wouldnt be surprised if i just say hell with the 10's and go straight into the 9's. Thats the goal. Will i be dissapointed if i dont hit a 9 on the first try. No but hey its a shot im willing to take. lol.

I hope you do it bro..

Again hope you make it... If the axles dont hold up... Let me know.. I can get you a better price... lol

no you dont need to launch that high, But the fact was is that i didnt have a two step so instead i tried to bounce the limiter and see what would happen. You dont want it to initially dead hook as that would cause an initial bog. You want the slicks to break loose just a bit until the car catches up. Not burn them but just initially break loose. On an auto trans its the opposite. You have a torque converter to keep the motor in the powerband. But if you dead hook a manual trans no matter what you launch at your going to bog.

Oh trust me i plan on launching the hell out of the car. Its a must. But if you have seen the Spec V axles and put them side by side to our old axles you will see exactly what i mean.

The axle i broke last time out was the first axle ive ever broken. And it broke right at the hub. Which is small compared to the spec v hub which again will be used on my car.

It will take some force to break it. Again im not saying it cant or wont break but i believe it will be just fine to pull the 60's that im looking for. But hey you could be right and i might have to do a better made axle or you could be wrong, haha. Im all for pushing the stock parts as far as they will go. Not only does it give me a better idea but it also helps everyone else out that is looking to do the same thing.

And right now i will go out and say it, If you have an oem set of Nissan axles in your sentra right now, they will be perfectly fine all the way to 550whp. Again it all depends on your launch techniques. I have seen people snap our axles with 200whp n/a launching at 7k without preloading. But watch as many others that have proper technique never break one. Again my axle could have been spared but i pushed it. Again 1.6 60's on stock axles. You dont hear of many if any hondas doing that. If there is any bigger purchaser of the DSS axes its the honda boys.

I watch honda boys all the time snap axles during a streetrace. Common, thats weak and they dont know how to properly launch. haha

Anyways thanks again for the advice. I take it all equally and i dont get offended by it at all.

Well i broke my first axle over the weekend. I was the loudest noise i ever heard from my car. Tire pressure was at 12 psi but the track was very sticky. I broke the passenger side. I'll get another one and try it again next week.

lol, yeah passenger side is ususally the only one that goes as its the main drive axle. Where did it break at? Hub or inside the trans. Thats the two smallest/weakest points on them.

Yeah a nice sticky track and tire pressure set correctly and a hard hard launch will do it especially if you dont get a good preload on it but like most said they can only take soo much.

I couldnt really hear mine break, it just snapped and then revved. Although my exhaust is quite loud being its open dump at the bottom of the bay. But yeah not fun and a crappy way to end the night short.

Would you guys be interested in buying custom axles? I am thinking about working with the Drive Shaft Shop directly to have them make a custom axle that will drop in, since they don't do that at this time for the B13. There needs to be a realistic demand for me to go to all that trouble though.

not likely. DSS axles are pretty expensive. They do offer a drop in axle set for our cars but your looking at 1300.00 for the set. Not fun at all.

I wont be using the stock trans anymore and the Spec V axles make our axles look small when in fact for a factory axle ours are pretty beefy and durable.

Cant wait to see how well the stock spec V axles fair against some really hard launches.

It broke by the splines inside the tranny. I rather break an axle than break the diff or something else in the tranny. I'll give it a little more tire pressure and see if i can get it to spin a little instead of dry hooking.

I have no doubts you will get your 9 sec run. The Honda boys do it with under 800whp, but they don't have quite the powerband SR do.

I broke my first axle. OEM. Snapped right outside the transmission on passenger side. I didn't even know it was the axle until I put the car on jacks and the pass side didn't move. Had to get a big magnet to pull the axle out of the trans.

Got a Cardone axle next. It broke on the first burnout I tried. I exchanged it for another and so far so good. 2 broken axles and 1 broken P11 tranny. At least the clutch seems to hold up decent lol.
