Cut the Coil Springs?
I’ll soon be selling my coilovers on eBay. KYB seems to be the best strut available and I’m trying to decide what to buy for springs with a 1” drop. I called JGY and asked for suggestions. One of the suggestions was to cut one half a coil off the top and to cut another one half coil off the bottom. Have any of you tried this strategy to get a “1 drop and firm up the suspension? Or do any of you have a knowledgeable and considered opinion about whether this is worth trying?

Try Hyperco or Road Magnet solutions if they are still available.

Also read this:

Cutting springs can work, but should be your last resort.

Thx for the reminder…
Thx for the reminder to search first and then ask questions. I haven’t been able to find any lowering springs but I am in the process of reading everything in the link that was provided.

I’ve never replaced struts before. I gave up on finding a good set of 1” lowering springs but I am installing new KYB struts. Rockauto lists strut mounts. Do I need to replace those? I got new bellows-looking covers for the polished shaft of the new struts. Also, there is a rubber thing on the underside of the (top) strut mount. Do I need to replace that. (I can’t find any part number in Rockauto). Lastly, at the bottom of the spring there is a dense rubber ring in which the spring sits. Do I need to replace that? Again there is no part number for it in Rockauto.
