quicker steering options?
i have a 98 sentra xe with manual steering and I'm really get frustrated with how far i have to turn the steering wheel to turn vs other cars.
any way to customize the rack to steer quicker? or other rack options?
i don't mind the non-power steering, actually prefer it. but if theres no way to make the manual rack steer quicker and the ps rack is quicker then i might swap later on. i installed 2j racing bump steer tie rod ends and that helped but its still feels like steering an old chevy nova almost.

Pretty sure the B13 Se-R rack is like 2.8 turns lock to lock. Not sure what the difference are but you might be able to get that to work...
You can also add a steering quickener to the column. It will require custom fab work. Pretty common practice with the rally guys.

The manual rack requires 1/2 more turn then the power rack.

your saying 1/2 more turn from straight to lock right?
now that i look at the other guys post, mine isn't 2.8 lock to lock, its more like 2 turns from straight to lock so that makes sense.

I ran in to this on my B14.I went with a tiny steering wheel (300mm).I couldn't get through even a 60 ft slalom at any speed with the OEM wheel, and now everything is much easier.Of course I have no airbag now,but I'm not planning on crashing,so I got that covered

correct

i personally do not run power steering in any of my b chassis ive ever owned however I do use the power rack because of quicker response.

its easy to turn and all, it gets much easier if you have good tires on the car

ok cool. i have a friend that eliminated his pump on his s13 and it still works fine too.

did you fill the rack with gear fluid and cap it off? or just regular ps fluid?

We gut the power rack and cap it.

BTW 2.8 lock to lock is a pretty good stock ratio as there are some cars out there with 3.5+ lock to lock. A smaller steering wheel also will help
