from putting these in, there is a lot of force required to get them down into the housing. but yeah, i forgot about the fact that there are fewer threads on the shortened front struts. locktite?? hmm.. but these struts aren't going to be rotating in the housing. it's tight.

more thinking: Under what driving situation would the strut insert be forced upward and out of the housing? i guess every time there is rebound. compression of the insert obviously does not matter to the bolt and shortened nub... is there really a enough force in rebound to cause an issue? from what I understand, Steve Foltz was putting JB weld on fronts and rears alike.. just as a precautionary measure. I thought it was overcautious.. I can't remember where I read that it was unecessary.. aside from the instructions which backed up that persons claims.

I have been thinking of the same thing, I would like to know as well if the JB is being too overcautious since it is such a tight fit. I have everything made, just need to put it together.

the unshortened rears, I would say it is not necessary, as Koni says it's not needed..

I would think only the shortened front struts would be the cause of worry.

What if when the koni is inserted into the housing for the first time, there was lube on the bottom and jbweld in the housing. The jbweld would form around the koni (but not stick) and bond to the housing? Theoretically it would be supported still but also removeable?

i like the theory, i'd only test it on something other than a good set of strut inserts if you want to ensure you can get them back out one day...

The idea would be to do this so that you could get them out. The JB would be bonded to the stock housing and NOT the Koni theoretically. This of course is under the assumption you even need to support the strut in the housing. Steve who kept the old thread up insists that without some filler like jb weld the struts are super unsafe - I know there is doubt cast on this though but it does seem undeniably more secure.
