I finally got the rears done, I ended up using Koni Reds because the stiffest setting on the koni red is softer than the softest setting on a B15 koni yellow sport.

B13 Rear Struts:

and for reference on cutting the front:

Sigh...with the apparent impossibility of getting reds for the b13 rear anymore, it would still be nice to find a definite solution for the rear, both for a coilover setup and for using oem styled springs..

researching and looking through so many threads, Im as lost on the rear solutions as when I started..

when doing the rears (using GC/koni adjustable sleeves) What length are you shooting for with the b13 rear, using the spec V insert? Say you were using a front housing, would you be trying to match the overall length of the oem b13 strut?

without taking any measurements at this moment, for duty in the rear, i think you'd almost have to lengthen the a front strut housing a little, to be more like the stock rear strut... CLK (custom lengthened koni)

hmm...wouldnt you simply space up the insert, while cutting away a minimum of the housing for support? Or is that even too short?

you'd definitely need a spacer, and not 100% sure on "splicing" in more strut housing length on top... i think if you just use a rear housing you'd be better off. and they do fit.

I didnt mean so much as splicing, just instead of cutting about and inch or so to shorten the housing, just cutting off a few millimeters, keeping most of the struts effective length.

And I though the benefit of using a front housing is that you wouldnt have to worry about the bolt through the bottom securing the insert hitting the oem sway bar...

Although if your using the front housings you wouldn't have an oem sway bar anyway...

Im all set on doing the CSK set up, I just want to cement the information on the rears just as much as the fronts..your lucky you got a hold of those reds.

Kahlistrohic, just use rear housings for the rear...

in other news..
DO NOT USE JB WELD!!
I won't be able to have my blown koni's rebuilt unless I can get them out of the strut housing myself. I called the Koni rebuilders and they said they don't want any part of pulling the insert out of a strut housing that has been JB Welded into place... I don't know how I'm going to get them out.. and it's going to cost about $300 per strut to revalve and make them externally adjustable, IF i can get them out of the strut housings.. (this is the blown set that I bought used on the forum in 2010.)

How attached to the housing the blown strut is in are you?

It doesn't look like anything some careful work with an angle grinder and a cutting disc wouldn't be able to overcome, but the housing would be pretty much toast.

i can spare the housings, but I'm not that skilled with an angle grinder to avoid not going to deep and nicking the koni insert..

they need 100 orders to make a new strut.

I think we should get some of the vendors together to order 100 rear B13 externally adjustable struts.. maybe G-Spec and Jimi can order 75 and 25.. or even Summit Racing could order 50 and G-Spec 25 and .. i'm just dreaming..
