B14 Suspension – Help wanted
OK, so either I’m an idiot or I’m totally missing something (probably the former). I’m attempting my RM/AGX suspension upgrade, FINALLY, but I’m stuck. I’ve got the OEM strut/spring setup out of the car. Springs are compressed. I’m trying to take off the top nut to disassemble the setup, but I cant figure out how to hold the strut still to remove the 17mm(?) nut. Any help provided is much appreciated.

I used a pliers and a breaker bar, also had someone hold the pliers so I could put the lean on the breaker bar.

I did my driver side while it was still on the car. Even without a spring compressor . I would not suggest it because it might break something or hurt you/something.

I would have some blocks or wood to break the fall, otherwise it might damage your axle, or ground if you have no axle.

Now if it's off the car, even with the spring compressed, stand clear of the strut, be on it's side when you release the top bolt.

The first driver side shock that I did, I did it off the car, and even with the spring compressed, the strut shut out at my door

Don't use a vice!!! Here is what you do, get a piece of rubber (a piece of rubber hose works fine) wrap it around the rod of the strut and grip down with some channel lock pliers. Use an impact wrench and you are done! You can use this method to tighten the bolts onto your AGXs if you want because it doesn't damage a thing.
