My new suspension
Snatched this up a few weeks back while cruising the classified ads. It was still early when I saw this

http://www.sr20-forum.com/suspension-brakes/18026-fs-b13-custom-konis.html

I have no front tops but I think I can use the rear stock hats? May still need thrust bearings?

Also what size are the nuts for the front tops and do I need a washer or anything?

also lemme know if thes pics need to be resized. sorry if they do.

The concern I would have using rear top hats on the front would be if thrust bearings can still be accommodated. I believe the thrust bearing is only there to reduce friction when the assembly rotates on the bottom, but it is fixed at the top (at the tower).

In all honesty, I would probably run to the junkyard and try to grab some front hats, 2 washers, and 2 nuts. You should be able to pull them from any B13/B14 (even non SR cars). Just watch the rubber in the mount. That way you are comfortable that everything is working how it should. If the strut rod turns at the junkyard, just shove something in there to hold it or use some vice grips on it.

I would also use an impact to tighten the nut on the front (not so much for torque, but to keep the strut rod from turning).

The rear should be ready to bolt on, and enjoy.

I have no idea on your questions.

However, those are BAD-ASS!!!

Superb purchase, great price, and you know Fosters did them right.

Freakin' awesome.

Ok I understand the thrust washers but I do have the two front tophats they just look awkward with coil-overs.

what I have front and rear courtesy of McCoy a few years back.

I believe the thrust bearing goes under the one on the lower right? I was looking at this diagram.

How to: assemble AGX/RM setup - SR20 Forum

also from my .pdf fsms it looks like the thrust bearing goes in between a seized piece on the lower right?

The thing about the rears is the height difference. Theoretically the rear tophat will add travel like the shigspeed plates on the back. Its just that there is probably some dangerous structural thing I am overlooking.

I know man. You and I have had this conversation before and neither of us was up to tackling Koni inserts ourselves. When this popped up I jumped on it. I've been saying I was gonna do this for years. I had a conversation with Steve Foltz back in 2002 about Konis before he even went public with that knowledge.

oh and sorry for the ginormo pics. My camera never did this before.

The rears are ready to go, cept the bump stops are upside down. I would toss the hats and get GC Camber plates and be done. you are going to want them down the road. What are the spring rates?
Here is my old set up on the left and new on the right. Hard to see but I cut the stock spring perch off the plate.

Josh wanted to keep his cusco plates and he was really good about letting the springs go. Its 380/350. Max fronts and b13/14 front inserts on the rear
Can't float the cash to finish it up. I thought the bumpstops were upside down but I figure it should be okay. I would wait but I already have the suspension on my car sold and the fronts are done.

It was the fronts and rears I had mixed up. Hadn't looked at them in awhile. Went to the bone yard for a few bits and the fronts are ready to go in.

Thanks man. I did the fronts this afternoon in the street. That was 40 min to wheels down. I don't think its strictly legal.

The rears I saved for my buddies shop tonight. The nutech rear sway is a pita but it quickly became clear one of the endlinks was fallen off the heim joint. I'll have to replace it. So for now I have no rear sway but since the springs are 75% stiffer it should be alright. That took an hour but I had to futz with the brake line a bit.

Three initial impressions. Needs alignment asap. Its dumped. Holy **** it handles nice.
