am i the only one?
well i read about alot of different springs, eibach,RM,hyperco now i know the rm's an hypercos are good from what i read.. but not much mention on the eibachs an like nothing on h&r's seems like im the only one with h&r's.. i have them mated with kyb agx's an i like them with the stock wheels.. feels way better then my buddys stock se-r or the suspension that came on the car.. especialy with stock rims.. the 17's i had were a nightmare..

Well back in the day H&Rs and AGXs were all the rage. The H&Rs may "feel" good but they really arent good. Not only are they too short of a spring but they also arent stiff enough to keep you off your bumpstops. Our cars, both B13s and B14s have very limited suspension travel. You probably dont hear many people run them anymore because the H&Rs arent a good spring. MAYBE with a shortened strut body. Oh and the reason your stock wheels feel better than the 17s is because with a 17 inch wheel you have a thinner tire (the tire profile, the middle number in say: 225/45/15) and the tire dampens the road noise and also absorbs some of the stresses in the road better with a 15" where as the 17s tires dont absorb as much. like using sheep skin condoms (are those even available???) and regular party hats.

*B13 Sportline: 1.6" drop front, 1.5" drop rear.
Struts To Use: *CSK's only for a daily driver, no OEM length struts.
Rate: Per Eibach technical support: No information on exact spring rate. However, the Sportline will be "30-35% firmer than stock."
*B13 Pro Kit: 1.2" drop front, 1.2" drop rear.
Struts To Use: *CSK's only for a daily driver, no OEM length struts.
Rate: Per Eibach technical support: No information on exact spring rate. However, the Pro Kit will be "20% firmer than stock."
Friendly guy, reasonable information I suppose.
*Note: Both types of Eibach springs for the B13 have been discontinued, they are no longer in production.

Still available for the B14 and B15:

B14 Sportline: 1.9" front drop, 1.9" rear drop
Struts To Use: Will not work well with any struts.
B14 Pro-Kit: 1.4" front drop, 1.4" rear drop
Struts To Use: *CSK's only for a daily driver, no OEM length struts.

B15 Sportline: 1.5" front drop, 1.4" rear drop
Struts To Use: *CSK's only for a daily driver, no OEM length struts.
B15 Pro-Kit: 1.2" front drop, 1.0" rear drop
Struts To Use: *CSK's only for a daily driver, no OEM length struts.

You guessed it, the spring rates are not available from Eibach. Then I found this:

Car Front Rear Source of Info
Sentra SE-R: 150 front, 80 - 180 rear Eibach*
NX2000: 160 front, 80 - 180 rear Eibach*
200SX SE-R: 160 front, 137 - 257 rear NISMO catalog

* Kit Wetzler asked an Eibach engineer directly

Which indicates that the Eibachs for all of our cars are both too low and too soft.

H&R - http://www.hrsprings.com/site/index.html
(Applications: B13, B14, B15)
B13: 1.3" drop front, 1.3" drop rear.
Struts To Use: *CSK's only for a daily driver, no OEM length struts.
B14: 1.5" drop front, 1.4" drop rear.
Struts To Use: *CSK's only for a daily driver, no OEM length struts.
B15: 1.5" drop front, 1.4" drop rear
Struts To Use: *CSK's only for a daily driver, no OEM length struts.
Rate: Per H&R's technical support line: "Unavailable to the public. Our Sport springs are designed to be used with the rest of the stock suspension including the struts." Bah, nice guy, lame answer, *CSK's only for a daily driver.
MSRP all springs: $299.00
Ballpark price: $210.00 at Tire Rack.

I am biased, but I would assert there is not much more to say.

MAYBE with a shortened strut body.

Correct.

And YES with a CSK for a daily driver.

I think our forum overall has become better suspension educated. It is hard to refute the facts when all the real experts agree, and all the accurate information is assembled in one thread.

Agreed, I love our rather extensive suspension options. Two (2) seperate Forum Exclusive springs, custom designed for our vehicles. Plenty of coilover choices, and a ton of misc. suspension parts available.

For an ancient Nissan econobox platform, we've got some damn nice choices.

Thank you sir. My chassis-stiffening efforts could certainly be duplicated.

And I wish I had a VE in my engine bay.

i showed my buddy whos building a datsun 610 your thread, he's considering doing some foaming himself except peope are steering him away from it cause its flammable an some TARDS mess up they're body cause they dont make any over fill drains lol

i think csk's and some rm's look like the way to go for me, im not lookin to spend a hell of alot of money for a while.. plus i could run the rm's on the agx's until i source some stock strut cores lol but first things first that stock se-r exhaust has got to go.. i am gonna run the hotshot header for a little while but i've already got a high flow cat and im gonna get some 2.5 mandrel bent exhaust put on there as quick as i can.. oh an ya im gonna buy one of those cheapy ebay low port wai's so i can get rid of this stock de rubber thing lol

More information please on the "flammable" statement. Links, and further clarification. It makes absolutely no sense to me.

They use one of the exact products I used, Handi-Foam, in the "Authorized Body Repair" instructions for Infinity vehicles. Handi-Foam is sold (in a bit larger sized container) to truck manufacturers to utilize in their fleet vehicles. Mazda uses a two-part catalytic foam in the RX8 chassis. Mike Kojima (ChoaderboyII) used the product in his personal, outrageous 300ZX Turbo project. After Mike (a brilliant engineer himself) discussed the foam with the SAE engineer at HandiFoam. The SCC guys (not exactly stupid) just did their S13 project in one of the last several issues of the magazine.

It may indeed be flammable at some temperature. However, it damn sure passed by some stringent, crazy-smart, engineers (Mazda, Infinity) who are well aware of Law Suits if their vehicles are overtly flammable in any way.

Therefore, I am utterly confused on the flammability statement.

Are you telling me they completely sealed up the frame rail (for instance), by seam welding it, they dumped in too much foam, and the rail exploded?

With no other facts, based upon your vague statements this is my only eductated theory...

The foam gets very hot when catalyzing, not hot enough to burn your hand, but hot enough to be uncomfortable. The foam also expands to a percentage of it's volume. You cannot overpour it into a sealed metal cavity, or it will burst the metal in question. Once a catalytic process begins, it ain't gonna stop just because it's in too small a space. If the metal burst, and the IDIOTS got splattered with hot foam, which would stick to their bodies much better than napalm, then I can possibly see how someone got hurt with the foam.

Excellent plans.

I have a "Table of Contents" of sorts, in my first post. I have a Linky to pretty much all my sources. Including the Stephens Fender Braces.
