Thanks Gus, the bumpers will be painted blue and the "tumbled e" logo pattern will be done in red on the doors and again in blue at the back o the car.

The goal is to look something like this:

I can't think of a better car to emulate for a paint sceme than that one. The pinnacle of B13 rally!

Well, RNN14 technically. And the "pinnacle" was pretty low, but that probably had more to do with Nissan Japan's relatively low interest and the friction between then and Nissan Motorsport Europe (and the damn Dunlop tires...)

It sure wasn't for lack of quality drivers. Both WRC champions (Stig in 1984 and Tommi in 1996/1997/1998/1999). I have this vague hope that someday I'll get a chance to meet one of them at a rally and get to show them the car. (This is not as far fetched as it may seem. I have actually met Stig in passing and Tommi showed up at one of the US events a year or so ago. I also have a friend who painted her Subaru Legacy Sport rallycross/stage opening car in the color scheme that Colin McRae drove during the first years at Subaru, before the Impreza came along, and she got Derek Ringer, who was Colin's navigator at that time, to sign the dashboard at an event he was co-driving for Travis Pastrana at. Rally is a surprisingly small world even at the international level).

Thanks for the correction Mark. These will always be the inspiration for us rally minded Nissan guys.

Agreed. I still enjoy watching my '92 WRC highlight dvd where Stig finished 3rd in the '92 Swedish Rally.

Are you going to do the colors in vinyl?

Mike

The bumpers will be painted, but the sides will be done like the fenders are, with the tumbled logo in vinyl.

....and the relative lack of power compared to other Group A cars didn't help things. The top mount intercooler was notoriously inefficient, and they were down about 60 hp from the other cars in class.

Their response was to come up with a custom 'brew' of racing fuel that was apparently so toxic the crew members who fueled the cars wore hazmat gloves and respirators. Not long after this the FIA started regulating fuels...no surprise! But the fuel alone made up nearly all the car's power deficit. I'm guessing benzene, toluene and maybe a bit of nitromethane may have been involved!

As well, the Nissan's AWD system was pretty crude even by the standards of the day making the car a devout understeerer. I have heard that if it weren't for the talent of the drivers the car would have never placed at all.

The naturally aspirated FWD Pulsar GTI's were far more successful in the British Rally Championship compared to the GTIR's in the world championship.

Not Nissan related, but directly related to being able to get the SE-R to/from events:

Congrats Mark. That's a nice addition to the effort for sure!

Actually, this now means I have no Nissan cars in normal DD use, which has been a very rare occurrence in the past 20 years. We traded in our Altima 3.5SE on the truck. Kinda sad, as in 7 years, the Altima never gave us a single second of trouble.
