Difference Gtir, VE, VET Combustion Chamber
Hey guys what's the differences in the combustion chamber (head) of the GTiR pulsar 54C head the sr20ve 1N5 head and the sr20vet 8H6 head? what's there volume's?

Is it possible to extract material from the ve head to create more combustion room like the GTiR?

Ofcourse you can, and you can take material out with out a cnc machine aswell. Or instead, you could just run a thicker gasket, this will make the chamber larger without removing any material

Taking off material from the ve head using a turbo piston would give what realistic compression ratio?

Also are the GTiR pistons and the VET pistons the same???

Its one thing to assume a bigger combustion chamber may be better.

The VE head is far superior for heat transition into the water, and also very good at knock resistance. If you get a chance to look at both heads side by side you will see what i mean.

Hey Autech i agree with what you are say ing....what i am trying to find out is if material is remove would i be able to gain a lower comp ratio....cause where i am we only get 92 octane fuel. Lowering the comp as much as possible will aloww me to run the psi i want to warding off detonation. I think i read somewhere using the GTiR pistons in the VE block gives a comp of about 9.2 : 1 so i was looking at ways to drop it lower....

If you put some old spare valves into your head, you can work the chamber very carefully and de shroud it. You will probably take out 1-2 cc of volume across each chamber.

Also knock the edge off the quench pads that overlap the cylinder. Bevelling them on a 45 takes away hotspots which will bring up detonation under boost. Also makes it safer if you are going to race the engine, sustained load will eventually see this edge burr and pitt and leave small bits of aluminium to burr up and run through the chamber.
