Viprdude: I was talking about changing valve train to highport one in a RR engine.. it was done many times and it works great. Its cheap mod and you have more cams to choose.

Well beautiful than! That is perfect and makes ten times more sense. Thanks for further clarifying.

Yeah and I can walk into traffic on a 60 MPH highway but that is not something great to do. I am breaking your balls here.

doesn't lowport flow better?? considering a less aggressive intake cam comes standard in the lowport, yet it still manages 140 hp and 132 lb ft of torque.. stock.. i would think it's allowing air to pass easier..

This is my plan for now, i have a RR block, I'm thinking of boring out to 92mm and adding a lowport head...BC2 cams and 3" exhaust with ASP or maybe a new mazworx header if they design one for a DE.. i think they are making a VE header right now..

if I go with a VE head, I will get a VE block too..

I now have two cars to play with..

I know that I want a 200+ hp N/A DE...

I might go with a VE for my DD, which is my recently secured via deposit saffire blue NX2000.

I think Robchaos made 180-185whp with DE. With nice 4-1 header, head work, better cams and good tune it should be probably possible. But everybody putting their money into VEs these days...

right.. but i'm not everybody..

with a VE, you get the small cam at low rpm (as i know you know) and big cam at high rpm.

this gives you better low end torque and the same good top end power you could get from a DE with a big cam.

so really it's a better set up than a DE with a big cam..

but

i like a friggin lopey idle and the rough sound that comes with it.. most people would hear a 4 cylinder at idle with big cam and think it needed a lot of work.. and then, they go for a spin with me... and realize it's a very healthy motor.

but like i said, I might turn the NX into a DD and the SE-R into more of a toy.. which I would want the DD to have a "nicer" idle.. so the NX may get a VE.

I really don't have any aspirations to go turbo anymore... especially now with this 92mm boring made possible by Mazworx...

I figure a lowport SR20DE with 11.8 to 1 (SR16VE pistons), Valve Springs, retainers with JWT C3 cams, SSAC header (2.5 collector), 3inch mandrel bent exhaust, JWT Pop Filter, N60 MAF and Pullies would make ----- ( 180 WHP with 145Lb Ft Torque )

That the way I see it too. A form of good'ol school tuning, no fancy cam that make your engine better. I like it raw, shaking and with a lopey idle !
