yeah... well as stated before i was just compairing... on this post "ideally" we wouldn't be stopped by compression... just in real live .... whats the highest compression ever seen on a DE with 86mm pistons? 12:1 ??? how does this go with high lift cams? im missin'g some data on valve clearance i cannot seem to find

Heres what I can tell you ....

One of the 11:1 SR20's I built finally blew the headgasket ( after 110,000 miles of hard use !! ) and the customer is ready to go turbo ...

So we found a low mile '96 SR20DE and swaped it in ....

The 11:1 with S4's all the good boltons , made 186 FWHP ....

After driving the Stock 96 SR with the S4's and all the same boltons you can feel a difference ...but its not Huge .... Still pulls hard and is a blast ....And these are both Lowports....

I dont see why 165 WHP with a stock DE with S4 cams and good boltons with a decent JWT, Calum or ? Tune would be easly done .... and done for fairly cheep ... Yea anything over the 180 mark is going to be really tough with stock compression ...Thats when it gets not worth the $$ spent ....At that point you could throw a low boost turbo setup on it and run it on regular and make more power !! Or yea , do the VE ...

I believe Mike Kojima had a write up on a 200whp DE on the other forum. I dont quite remember everything it had. C3 cams with cam gears. higher compression, head work, a bunch of other stuff. I believe he made that power on a JWT ECU which is pretty conservative (so it doesnt detonate itself to hell on track days) so maybe a stand alone with a very very aggressive tune would be able to top that by a few ponies. He also liked the high hp DE better than a VE on a road course.

Easiest and least expensive option on a DE. I use the bottle because I dont want a boosted car since I love autocrossing the car but i also want some extra power on certain occasions . Great gas mileage off the bottle and a beast on the bottle. However Ill be getting an NX and dropping in a VE in that thing. =)

i've read mike's poor boy build over and over again... some things are just not doable in mexico... for example the closest dyno to my house is at least a 7 hour drive.... no good headwork round here... obviously you guys have it easier in the us... anyways i belive the 200whp is doable with stock bore & stroke.... high compression (touhgt not ridiculously high) and a hell of a good tune....... anyone can come up with a dream build for this?....

You keep changing your story. First you say that you cant do high compression, then you say it does not matter, now again you are saying you cant.

Basically everything is out there for what you need. IF you want to make the power you are looking for you HAVE to increase compression and have some machining done. You can send the head, block, crank, & what ever out to get done so that should not be an issue. If you are limited by the octane of your pump gas then you have to start there. Increase displacement is your best bet to make up for the lower compression.

Most people do bolt ons because they already have the car and want to make it faster. Now once they understand what actual power is and how to make it they go other directions. Not everyone needs 200+ WHP on their cars.

sorry if my posts are confusing... i've got to deal with translation here... i started the post to see what could be done or has been done... all the other posts of me have been opinions or statements bout what can or can't be done here in mexico... not exactly related... once again im sorry for the missunderstanding...

when i said high compression doesn't matter i was refferring to the builds you can expose....

OK. Youre in Mexico. Cant get good headwork. Go nitrous. End of story.

Off topic: nitrous is ridiculously expensive here too...

Seriously anybody got. Good build for stock bore & stroke?
