General re-install question(s)
2 quickies -(tee hee)

1) any tips for getting the tranny (heavy heavy automatic!) onto the engine? this is always the bain of my existance and by far takes the longest time putting on the engine due to its weight? I've done 3 swaps (this is my 4th) and I'm getting sick of grunting it on!

2) is it easier to put the motor mounts on first, then install, or put the mounts on the car, then the 3 bolts on either side into the engine

Bolt it to the motor then put the motor in from the bottom.

Otherwise get an engine hoist and pull it up with the mounts off completely. This will give you some room to wiggle the tranny into place. Once the tranny is on the motor put the mount on and you are done.

I should clarify - the engine and tranny are out of the car.

Also question#2 was intended as once the tranny is on, is it better to have motor mounts on the engine and lift the engine in or have the side motor mounts in the chassis and then put the 3 bolts on either side in the engine then?

This would only work if you install the engine from below...Car on jackstands and a cherrypicker/hoist and chain to lower/lift the motor.

I would put the tranny on the motor while it is out.
Go ahead and attach the front and rear mounts and crossmember.
put the tranny mount on the trans, dont worry about the pass mount till after the engine is in.
Slide the whole assembly under and lift it up nto place.
Put in the 4 crossmember bolts about halfway to hold it while you get the other mounts lined up and secure. This part can be a PITA if you are using solid mounts.

If you are doing it from the top...I would just put the motor in first, then do the tranny. If you have some good help and /or a leveller, you may be able to tilt it all in from the top. That is not fun,I will never go in the top again, thats for sure.

Good luck,have fun
