Andreas answered this one in an old thread. RR DE, SR20VE oil pans are the same.

I never said they were the same. I said they are all interchangable if you use the matching upper and lower oil pans from each one.

Here are the diffrent oil pans I know of

1. SR20DET ( These only fit AWD DET Motors )
2. SR20DE Highport
3. SR20DE Lowport ( They have a diffrent lower oil pan configuration )
4. SR20DE RR oil pan
5. SR20VE oil pan
6. SR16VE oil pan
7. SR20VE 20V oil pan.

All these oil pans upper and lower have diffrent part numbers witht the the SR16VE and SR20VE sharing the same lower oil pan.

Why would you want to remove the girdle? The non-girdle motor already suffers from a weak bottom end, with bores being deformed due to the block being torqued.

Yeah I added a girdle to my ve motor. Kept the 4cw crank but knife edged it.

Andreas thanks for clearing that up. Sorry to misquote your previous info.

Freek it frees up some horsepower. Nissan made Non girdle blocks so if it was that huge of a deal I really don't think they would have put them out.

The bore distortion issue your talking about is when you overbore a motor and then try to torque up the head and the transmission to the block. Mike Kojima brought it up a while back that in order to overbore a motor, a torque plate and bell housing should be used. Otherwise you would have bore shift when you torque up the actual head and transmission to the motor. Girdle motors are included in that recommendation
