B15 Going from auto to 5 speed to 6 speed swap
i was doing some research, and after awhile, ive come to realize that instead of finding sentra gold of the b15/p11 lsd trans, i might as well just put in a spec trans and call it a day.

i know that the bell housings are different, but i dont know if there is really any difference between them besides the 6 gears and the different type of limited slip.

ive been reading this thread quite a bit and ive been trying to figure a couple things out, and i figured the best way to figure them out would be to just ask.

How To Put A QR B15 6 Speed Tranny In Your Car - SR20 Forum

i obviously have no idea what i am gettin myself into. all i can think about is the koojo story over and over again.

basically i would be doing an auto to 6 speed swap, but me being an SE it shouldnt need everything in that list from the thread made by miko.

i couldn't seem to find the good ol' koojo p11 auto to manual swap and all the parts i need to do a 5 speed swap to incorporate them into the 6 speed swap, but i did find this as well:

HowTo: P11 5 Speed Conversion - G20.net - Forums

this is the list that i have incorporated from the miko thread for the 6 speed swap, and the parts needed for the 5 speed swap.

but then there is this thread that states i need to change a couple of the items as its a 6sp swap from auto to manual p11 : HOWTO: 6Speed in a P11 - G20.net - Forums

Spec V trans 02-06
Spec V center console or any other manual b15 or mod current one obtained
Spec V axles w/o ABS - around 120 pick n pull, and 80-90 rebuilt
Spec V throw out bearing -
Spec V shifter and shifter cable
Spec V Hydralic line
Spec V clutch pedal 50 bucks for all via pick n pull
Spec V tranny mount driverside
Spec V rear tranny mount
Spec V rear Tranny mount bracket - around 250 for all new mounts via dealer
Spec V Axle shaft seals for the tranny obtained
Axle bracket for P12, order from Greg V
Bell housing for P12 20V tranny, order from Greg V - both pieces are 520 shipped via everythingg20.com
S15 JWT Flywheel or 6 speed trans on SR20DE
350z clutch/pressure plate - 280 via dealer
Spec V Hydraulic Clutch *Dampener* (I dont know what this really does, but its a part you need)
GTiR Hydraulic Slave Cylinder - obtained
Spec V Clutch Rubber Line

i think i have everything covered for the most part now. what do you guys think that have done the 5 speed and those with the 6 speed swap? does it look like im missing anything or ? i know that im going into uncharted territory for the most part.

that actually helps me out quite a bit. im going to add that to the list of good links for parts. One thing that is getting at me though, is that miko says 300zx 240mm clutch, and p10det says use the 350z clutch.

Not knocking anybody, but p10det did this and his car runs, so he would be my main POC if I were doing it.

Ditching the auto, eh?

^^o yes. o yes. ive already cut the brake pedal for it in the auto. i just basically have to collect the parts and have a weekend to do it.

doing the swap will be cheaper and easier than selling the car and locating one with a manual 5 speed lsd.

im thinkin i should have almost everything but the bell housing, trans and clutch/pressure plate by xmas. provided i get the list right.

i cut the pedal part down to size of the manual one. it looks like my car used to be manual.

my Spec V trans cost me $350

also, fyi a 350z clutch is a 250mm clutch. dre just recommend a 240mm on a na, but that don't mean you can't use the 250mm clutch for a na car.

what would the difference be using a 250mm clutch apposed to a 240mm clutch? im trying to understand things and learn more as i go.
