K1 crank.

i'll do up some corresponding pix of the cam lobes later.
i don't think the cranks have anything to do with 2.4 failures.
imho, its the hg not doing its job.
bolo for a 2.4 hc short block soon

good choice. i may consider doing this over the winter before the convention.

yup, all the cranks are the same, the ebay one, k1, bc, tomei, mazworx all made by the same manufacturer.

What bearings were you running btw? it seems with the content of the metal in the oil you were running oem bearings.

For builds like this i wouldnt suggest anything other than the ACL race bearings. Harder material that can withstand the higher loads and i dont believe they have the copper content like the oem bearings. Thats why I ask.

ashton, bearings had nothing to do with this failure.

but yes upgraded bearing are a good idea.

Im talking more about the bearing metal content in the oil. Whether its a crank journal problem that was causing bearing wear or the oem bearings not being able to handle the load just saying yes bearing upgrades are a good idea.

His oil properties are still there so i doubt the slight mixture of coolant in the oil had anything to do with the bearing wear as its still a small amount % wise.

damn, you buyin re-spects engine?

sorry to hear about this man.. you should hang on to the other engine an have it redone properly an keep it for backup or something since these 2.4's seem to fail alot.

acl race bearings, as recommended by charles.

we should also remember that much of the metal content in the oil sample could also come from the sleeves/rings/piston skirts etc..
i submitted a sample from the forte sx at the same time. it was also above (slightly) the expected range due to being a newer engine 8800 miles. they suggested a 6000 mile change next time.

teal, im going to be putting a lil something together over the winter.

ill be running oem bearings (crank rod and thrust). you should consider them if your build isnt to over the top.
