Thread: Which VVL Solenoid is which?

I was always under the impression the green plug solenoid furthest from the head was the intake, but then ran into a thread that showed the square black plugged solenoid is the intake.

There seems to be a lot of references to them on both this and the old sr20 forum, but some threads have references to both in the same thread.

and then the next post down from this refers to the intake having same plug as a s15 vtc, which is the square black plug aka knock sensor style.

Any know for 100% sure? If not i will find someone with a factory sr20ve powered car and test it for myself i guess and post up the info here.

Closest to head is intake, then furthest is exhaust. Always been like that.
