I was looking at the specification form for the burns collector, and while trying to find the specs for the Kelford cams; I ewent to their site to have a look. Turns out they can make a custom set for the same price as the 184's.

Any suggestions? I've heard the low-cam and the high-cam profiles are misaligned on the 184-c's.

Did some quick calculations on plenum volume and runner length, both seems ideeal for peak-power @ 8500rpm

Runner length is about 24 cm from valve to plenum.
Plenum volume is very roughly calculated to 2.4 litres (I will do this properly later by filling it with a liquid).

the lob jump from high to low was sorted out on the kelford version 3s. i run this cam as does a few other guys.

the cams and intake mani and header all play a part in were it makes peak. so if everything else is in check you should have no problem making peak were you choose.

my 2.4 made peak @ 8500 rpm also this was on e85 with the cams not dialed in but straight up. im sure if it was still running today with a few adjustments id be making peak @9.

keep it up, i look foward to your results.

That is good to know, thanks.

Yes, If this goes as planned, intake, cams and exhaust will be tuned to the same rpm range. I may be able to shave of a cm or two from the flanges on the runners - raising the powerband another 500 rpms or so.

What was the length of the primaries and the runners when the 2.4 peaked at 8.5?

How would you increase the peak to 9? Just playing with the cam-timing?

Thank you. So do I.

header length was a lil longer then 24inches. the longer the header the higher it makes peak rpm wise.

as far as header sizes go it was 1 3/4 to 1 7/8 to 2 inch about 6 inch increments iirc. only thing i would have changed was the size of the choke, it had a 2 3/4 choke.

the intake plenum i forget the exact specs.

Mazworx said 14.5:1 is max on stock stroke.

Hmm ic I remember arguing and actually calling cp directly because they were unable to get my any higher then 13.5 on 86mm stroke and 14.3 ish with the same dome on a 92mm stroke. I guess that's a good thing for you, I'm surprised though because from the look of my dome there isn't any way to achieve a higher cr unless you make the valve reliefs shallower. Id like to see what the dome looks like when you get the pistons....

And also this couldn't be further from the truth. The longer the header primaries are the sooner it peaks..... but you try and match the runner length to the cam profile rather then change your curve with the header. You will make a better curve and more power when you set the lenghts in accordance to the cam timing...

I really don't know. Haven't done the math on it, besides, I don't even have the cylinder head yet.

I'll order the head and pistons from them, letting them know I want a CR of about 14:1, there's no better way to get things right.

Burns will get all the details on the engine as soon as I get the head and pistons done. But from what I've gathered so far, peak will be somewhere inbetween 9-9.5k

The intake runners are still a bit too long for that..

A friend of mine got in touch with a well-known experienced guy who can balance the complete rotating assembly (from clutch to pulley) for about 250$. That's a really good price, at least here in Norway.
