Quiet VE performance exhaust
Can it really be done and what does it look like ?
I know you can keep the stock exhaust, but I know that's really going to inhibit performance. So to build a DD quiet VE what are the best component choices/ muffler, resonator, diameter...better to keep a cat or plug in a longer resonator ?

3" diameter, 3 resonators or a few really long ones, I dont suggest you take out your cat, but many have and did straight pipe with a resonator - get as thick of walled piping as possible, and avoid glasspack if you can (longevity issues).
Header should be an SSAC 2.5" collector/dp if you dont' want to break the bank.

How about an exhaust cut out to keep quiet all the time and let all hell break loose just when required. You could even wire it to a window switch to open the cut out when the VVL kicks in...

Remember the tokes side exit? Get that and run it out the back instead of the side with a nice big muffler.

2.5in catback with a remus single can dual tip muffler.

also if you have the tip turn downward towards the ground it will quiet things down as well

I've always been fond of the turbine mufflers for performance and quite running.

Have you read the many threads regarding this subject? People have different interpretations as "loud". Go with what you think are the most hardcore resonators and muffler (not a straight through) or just do an electronic q-tec cutout. 110 bucks for one
