Default Have A Bad VVL Solenoid, Well They Are Easy To Find

I was working on a 2000-2002 Sentra with the QG18 and I have to switch out the motor because the enigine was overheated very bad. Well I noticed that the Solenoid for the QG18 look the same as the SR20VE selonid the one with the Grean plug or Grey top. Well I pulled it out and pulled out my VE selonid and they were identical.

This solenoid can be found right next to the #1 inj on the QG18 motor

So

QG18DE has one of the Solenoids we need. It is the one with the green plug.

What so hard its on a VVL motor so we know what it looks like.

To order it call Greg V

Tell him you need the Selenoid from a 2002 QG18DE motor. He has already been informed about this.

why are the lengths of the stock vvl intake and exhaust solenoids different?

lets say both my vvl solenoids are bad, can i use two QG18 solenoids to replace both my intake and exhaust solenoids?; also assuming i have the the harness for both QG solenoids.

if the lengths of them are diffrent and Nissan made 2 diffrent ones then it is obvious that they are not interchangeable

being curious from your findings, i double checked my solenoid setup just now and both of them have the black top. they both operate fine when switched, having a loud, noticeable click sound; and my motor does have the very obvious crossover sound when it switches to the high lobes.

a little history of my experience:

when i first installed my 20ve, the exhaust solenoid (gray top with green plug), wasn't switching. i did battery test, running two wires from the exhaust solenoid straight to the battery, and thus no clicking sound. using the MSS to switch both at the same time, i ran the motor and heard no change in exhaust note. so to test it furthermore, i physically switched both solenoids from their position on the distribution block. so now, the intake solenoid (black top) is on the exhaust side; i did a successful battery test with clicking sound, then ran the motor and finally heard the change in the exhaust note.

i got a spare intake solenoid from a forum member and used it to replace my broken exhaust solenoid. i've been using that setup for a while now and have had no problems with cam switching.

so the fact that you mention that they are different, in my experience, using 2 intake solenoids to switch both cams seem to work fine. although i have not tried using 2 exhaust solenoids (QG18 solenoids) to switch both cams. maybe it might be a different result.

Anyone else have an experience like this? I'm having the same issue and need to replace both my solenoids. So can we use the solenoid from the QG18 for both intake and exhaust?

Are you talking about the solenoid pictured on the right or left?

The solenoid on the left can be found on the S14/S15 SR20DET, but I'm guessing that those motors are scarce in the US.
